I dont agree that Sato needs to beat Button. Also, why does anyone believe Honda would give Sato prefference over Button? If he is fast he will do well if not then he wont. Its that simple. Its so sad that people feel the Japanese racer cant perform as well as his British team mate under equal circumstances. He needs special help from Honda. Sad!
Some things are better left unsaid if we dont have proof of them. Button has been faster than Sato, but things can change and tend to. I wish both drivers the best and hope they can push each other and develop the team into race/championship winners. As a matter of fact the only people that stand a chance of losing more face is Honda. If Sato is a flop then Honda will be blamed for "forcing" BAR to race him. When Sato was at Jordan he would set similar lap times to Fisi but was too inconsistent. As I said before, he needs seat time. There is no replacement for experience. |

Any of you at the Earls Court Motorshow this week?...well in the live arena BAR had a pit scene set up, and two well known British TV car programme presenters...Jeremy Clarkson and Tiff Needel and a stunt driver. Button, Sato and Davidson were on hand and each in turn demonstrated a Caterham 7 (Lotus Seven) Davidson just did figure of eights, saying he hates doing all that doughtnut nonsense! Button tried to do them like the stunt driver but couldn't make it do complete 360's...AND good ole Sato went too fast..lost it and smashed into the stage plateform!...BAR mechanics had their heads in there hands! Nuff said!

I think it will be close.
There is no doubting Button came on leaps and bounds in 2003 and should continue to improve as a driver. Sato has a year of testing under his belt and has hopefully started to curb that wild streak of his. Button will beat Sato. The gap will be large to begin with, but as the season progresses, Sato will improve immensely and by seasons end they should be neck-and-neck. |
