Certainly Button will be under very close scrutiny from FW this year, so his performance will be one to watch.
FW has alluded to Jenson as WDC material in comments at the tail end of last year, and to be fair he has been supportive of JB even in the poor 1st year at Renault. I'm sure he is on William's mental short list for 2005.... |

.mmmhh, i do hope that, but, considering that FW are tesitn a lot of young drivers, weel, this possibility is a bit hazardous IMO.
Nico or Nelsinho are to be re-tested, that's why I think FW are interested at them. |

I think thats Franks problem really. IMO the 2 drivers at the top of that short list (Webber and Button IMO) are both under contract to teams that love them.
Franks not one to throw money around on drivers, so Mark and Jenson might dip out. |

If P.K doesn't perform at this next test i feel he will have lost his chance. Lets face it he's riding of his fathers name he has not preduced fast laps in testing and has been in British Formula 3 for 3 years and not won the championship. If any youngster clinches it it will be rosberg

Always possible considering Sir Frank harps about Button constantly and has always been a fan.
If Jenson puts in a good year in '04, Sir Frank might come knocking on BAR's door. |

No I think Button will stay at BAR and I think its a good thing spreading out the good drivers in a few teams will only benifit the series .
As the car makers (teams) are hitting their strides its good the have it this way . BAR need Jenson they no that and fw won't pay the big $$$$ for him that BAR will commaned |

However, despite the fact that he isn't a bad driver, I agree that I think he could be riding on his father's name a bit too much and is over hyped. |

I see it though in another way, as his own father told many times. If he (Piquet) didn't see the kid is good he wouldn't put his money on him. Remember he has other 4 sons and daughters. |

With the amount of cash that Ralf is allegedly asking for it wouldn't surprise me to see Jenson and Nico at Williams for 05. After all Nico will be cheap and I'm sure that Jenson would rather be WDC and respected at Williams than be loved at BAR

I believe Button would stay at BAR, only if he sees some marked improvement in the teams and cars performance. I don't think he would want to get into a JV like situation, where he dedicates his career to a team, that really would never give him a chance of winning.
If BAR doesn't improve, then he would be smart to consider other options. I like him and would hate to see him waste his career. |

Piquet has been brilliant in F3. Probably better than Button had been when Williams plucked him from the series.

It would be nice to see Button back at Williams. That way he might start winning some races instead of saying "nearly" all the time. However, I doubt that BAR are going to give him up so easily.

santori... Hynes CV isn't in the same league as Button's, what Sir Frank and others look for is continuity and instant success class by class. My contacts insist it was Sir Franks company that 'fast tracked' Button from 1997 when he won the FIA/CIK European Formula Super A championship (on the GKS Lemmens Techno/Rotax) something quiet unheard of unless you're with the top manufacturers teams (Tony Kart & CRG...the Ferrari & McLarens of top level International karting)
I had always believed it was Haymarket Publishing who created the media hype that got him noticed, in their quest to secure a Mansell/Hill icon to help sell their motor mags to the masses (not just the anoraks) Button is in a nice position...if he gets a (long overdue) podium, especially a win, or better 2 wins, he will definatly be on Sir Franks shopping list. But then Dave Richards won't wanna let him go as it vindicates his faith in hiring him...expect a battle! But if JB fails to deliver he will have a safe berth for the forseeable future at B.A.R.Honda, and that can't be to shabby! |

True, Hynes' record isn't as consistently impressive but with Button and Burti both reaching F1 he deserved to at least bee given a test.

I think Hynes did have a test with BAR, but I agree he wasn't given a fair crack which is a shame.

I'm not worried about williams .They will either find a quick young star (preferable but chances are low'ish) or pay the $ to buy button or webber.
At least we never have to worry about williams having someone like DC who can't drive and is only there for promo work. .......hangon-that allmost describes ralf! lol |
