Don't get your shorts in a wad, Tim, I was just kidding. If you're from Indy, you know that traditional drivers, like Kevin Thomas, still refer to pavement Silver Crowns as "Dirt Champs".

Oh, I wasn't in a twist, DirtFan....on "other" forums, people play semantics and sometimes it does put a burr under my hide...but not today...

BTW....

The last time I saw Mario Andretti on "Windtunnel," Dave asked him "Out of all of the racing you did in all kinds of cars, what was the most fun?"

His reply:

"Getting out on the track first at Springfield (Ill.), so that when I was the first guy to hit the first turn at full throttle on the fresh dirt, I knew that it would never be any better than that the rest of the night"

A true dirt car lover's story...from a guy who drove in and won in everything....

When I shared that story on another forum, one of "semantic maniacs" posted:

"he did say "Fun," so his dirt experiences couldn't have been serious"

Hell, Mario go his start in dirt....
