Insurance Hunting
I have today received a quote from RACQ for re-insuriance of my car @$930.30 , an increase from the $845.20 that I paid last year. I was informed that my lifetime membership of AA does not entitle me to a discount. So, I rang the NRMA, remembering that they charged me less when I was in Cooma. Their quote now is $767.30, so naturally I went back with the NRMA.
How can people here in Queensland be ripped off like this? Last edited by Valve Bounce; 4 May 2001 at 04:50. |

Because they are worse drivers?
Well, that's probably unfair, apart from a dreadful lack of ability to merge, Queenslanders aren't too bad... as drivers go these days. Just be grateful that it's not eight years ago, when NRMA refused to renew even existing policies if you moved out of NSW/ACT! |

I was having fun with this myself recently.
I was with FAI @ $1080. Renewal came for Allianz who have essentially taken over @ $1100. I thought about it for a moment and decided to get a few quotes from the internet NRMA - $1200 Allianz - $800 AAMI - $690 Apart from anything else I was shocked by the difference between Allianz and Allianz. And by the NRMA as they quoted me $2000 originially last year when the car was new. |

I spent the evening recently hunting out insurance for a Mini, with the aid of TimD. The cheapest I found was £515. However, I change my sex to female and it becomes £363. I knew there would be a difference in the cost, but not THAT much - even my mum was shocked. £150??? Because I'm MALE?!
