For a winner like Montoya the idea of running behind the trafic for such a long race must have been too much to bear.
Senna “The Great” crashed in Monaco once; then he went for the all time record of 5 consecutive victories. You just have be a little bit patient with Montoya because he will tone down to F1 standards, when sleeping behind the front runners is a good thing to do . (Barrichello, better known as “they will let me win if I am in front of Schumacher ” has mastered the art of driving while sleeping. He got a good result in Monaco just because his foot was too sore to let him go comatose ). Montoya will learn from his mistakes (at least he admits to them). It was difficult for all the drivers to adapt to the ridiculous Maxwell’s grooves Even Schumacher (for those who think he does not make mistakes, the truth is that he lives in a permanent denial, just read his excuses about his spins in Brazil: wrong tires, stiff suspension blah blah blah…) had very hard time to cope with them. It is not that I am trying to make excuses for Montoya. (That belongs to Schumacher fans by birthright ) I am just trying to bring a little bit of analysis. That is if people care about it. Seems to me that the world is divided between those who think that Montoya will win the WDC this year and those who think that he will join Mazzacane in oblivion. Montoya will rule in F1 once his time arrives (that is next year), for know he is just practicing. Trying to find the limits and I am afraid he has been too successful finding the limits . For now, light a Cohiba (that is a Cuban cigar) and sing along with me… |

Montoya has raced at Monaco before, and he started in the same position (7th) - he IS a complete F1 rookie, though - he is quite obviously allowed to make mistakes in cars he has never driven before - he is still trying to get used to the nuances of an F1 car - if Fernando Alonso crashed out do we give him a hard time?

Of course not. Those who pan Montoya are simply demonstrating that they are more influenced by the 'hype' than they care to admit. Most expect him to perform miricles and when he fails to do this he gets slaughted for it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE!!

True but the cars have changed somewhat since then. They are far more 'skitty' than they were in 98 due to the extra groove in the tyres and lower levels of downforce. The cars Montoya has been driving for the last few years are big and heavy in comparison and the drivers can turn in confiently without the tail skipping out. This is what Montoya has got to learn again.

Actually, the cars have a lot more grip and are supposedly much easier to drive than they were in 1998. That is why the lap times are falling so quickly at every track.
The grooved tyres are not an excuse. He has just had a bit of bad luck, which always makes the mistakes look bigger. |

Ok, I know cars are different now, but, are different for everybody..., new regulations affects the whole grid.

Yes but the rest of the grid haven't been racing Indy for two years. Champ cars behave very differently to F1 cars.

It's not only the cars, but the whole enviroment that makes difference, and altough it changes to everybody, when you're in is much easier than when you're coming in or returning.
Anyway it is not big issue. |

unfortuntly for willams JPM driving at monaco was all balls and no though plus monaco really doesn't suit his style
I was think of putting on some pies for Moff until the willams had fuel problems as I'm told plus his jag's needed some help Now for canada yes the BMW unit should enjoy it but those rear brakes on a dry day gives me a bad feeling as for jpm at canada I think they is more of a chance he will finish this one but 4-6th is the highest he'll get. |
