I genuinely have no idea, but common sense would dictate Gibbs should be in for a much bigger penalty than Keselowski and McDowell have.
I say that as supposedly this sticky tape gave Busch and Hamlin a performance advantage, whereas Keselowski 's car simply had extra material added to repair the rear bumper - so that could not have made the car go faster! |

It wasn't just material added, the actual panel was bumped out as well changing the airflow AND they attempted to hide it from NASCAR. Others have repaired panels on the inside without penalty after clearing it with NASCAR tech.
And NASCAR rarely released why teams were suspended or parts taken, teams would announce it more readily as a Smokey Yunick badge of honor |

I see the Youtube channels are claiming that the new Nascar car is less safe than the previous generation based on the Kurt Busch concussion at the weekend....

To me it looked brutal, a massive deceleration in one hit. I doubt he would have fared better in any previous type of NASCAR.
Also got to think Kurt has had a long career and a lot of wrecks, and it all builds up until one day you're past tipping point. Hope he does recover fully, think he's still got speed and the urge to compete. |

They've been making that claim since the start of this gen car after a team did a sim and said every wreck the driver would be trapped and most would be loss of legs. Yet somehow every time they actually tested the car, not so much. Hmmmm, maybe the guys who have been building race cars a while now know what the hell they're doing. But it seems there is a growing movement of "fans" to destroy nascar any way possible and management is helping them.
It looked more like he's lucky it was only a concussion there, that kinda of decel has killed previous stock car drivers. But one should ALWAYS consult YouTube for the most up to date and cutting edge science and simulations out there |

Absolutely, way too many experts.
All I know is when I see guys like Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, Jr, Michael McDowell, the Waltrip brothers in one piece that these NASCAR cars are protecting guys from really nasty injuries and death. Try having their accidents in the highest safety rated passenger car and it's not going to end well... |

Such a JOKE of a start to the Indy road course race for Cup. Slamming contact with ZERO intent to turn and 4 car widths wide at the 5/6 chicane. Hamlin went fully out to the dirt.
Not quality racing, the old guys in old Cup cars do better at Road Atlanta |

He was announced a while ago for Indy, he's not covering himself in glory
But neither are many drivers, could anyone actually learn T1? At least 3 guys just slamming in to others. The blame game from teams and drivers is a joke, everyone blaming the car cause they can't fkn learn they can't just stomp the pedal and go. It just feels like it's gonna be a shtshow. It's like everyone forgot what they learned at Road America where they were competent. Feels like teams heard Indy and went for speed over df on the car |

Damn, Buescher got cockpit fire and then extinguisher all over him in a pit stop. Window net didn't even move, I didn't see if they let him back out but he sounded rough on the radio. And Motul is slamming the Petit ads this weekend, this race and both yesterday.

It didn’t make any sense. The guys sat in the car and they’re blowing the extinguisher & smoke around the cockpit. Why would you do this?

Ok, glad it wasn't just me. Especially when they just ran the leaf blowers in his face to clean the car, right in to the cockpit

It’s crazy, Larson hit Dillon after brake failure into turn 1 and his car looks almost untouched. Dillons car less so

And Logano screws everyone there not understanding that's T1 moron, you can't be inside and then rotate inside everyone. He jumped the inside curb like that wouldn't be a problem at all

Might be a controversial subject but do you think Nascar should black flag #16 for his own safety? Hes visibly struggling due to the heat and he isnt a full season entrant

I think he's suffering as much as any of them, look at that last restart direct shots taken at cars without any attempt to turn.
NASCAR is a FKN joke, they built the damn escape road without a stop because their drivers can't drive. No one ALL race was penalized, fkn joke and can guarantee they'll be sued by a team that don't care. You can't make up a rule later. Nevermind that EVERY corner was missed by miles but a professional driver calls you out for your inability to penalize others for intentional wrecks do he stays out of the mess cause there's no way he was gonna make it, and you penalize?? There were additional cars being him so........ Oh, you didn't penalize them, yeah, you're screwed Yeah, NASCAR can't figure out their own sht, that's why Roger said 'uh no *******s, we have a contract, you're on the road course next year and we ARE NOT talking about the oval in 23' |

I deliberately didn't watch it, that course was always garbage even for cars that do that sort of thing as their bread and butter.
Bigish heavyish cars, eejits, tight twisty bits just isn't my thing. If it's in the schedule next year I won't be watching it again. |

That's a nice strong accent.
Track looks good, last time I saw it on a documentary with Jr it had greenery reclaiming it left right and centre. Gonna make the effort to watch some of this upcoming racing, just need to work out how to stream it over here in little England! |

It will be, Roger holding them to the contract and may allow every other on the oval but he knows there's little interest in the oval either. Road course at least allows a stacked weekend of Indy and Cup

I'm surprised NASCAR hadn't implemented a rule saying the cars needed to come to a complete stop on the turn 1 escape road at Indy before moving on, similar to the rule used at Watkins Glen and The Roval.
Anyway, I don't mind NASCAR running the Indy road course. Obviously it isn't the most inspiring or scenic road course, but it usually provides a bit of chaos which I'm a fan of. |

I want more on track required, running to the grass a mile away from the track after 5/6 is a bit pathetic but they do the same at The Glen. Make em stay on the track, add a stop box at T1 overshoot and we would have something interesting. The new curbs survived and think helped the Indy race as well.

Kurt Busch not allowed out to play again this coming weekend - guess he's far from in good shape. Ty Gibbs filling in again.
