Indeed but he was already in the HP for sure, didn't have to push.

I wonder if he will have to start from the last place overall or the last Hypercar?

Last year the 38 started from the last overall but this year at Spa the 50 started from the back of the hypercar pack. Not sure tbh.

According to s365 all of the 7#'s laps got deleted so I assume they're starting from the back of the grid which is waay too harsh.

Some of the videos show at least 4 security guards having to hold/push the line of fans behind the tensator barriers.

It's not a new rule though and is used in numerous championships. Cause a red flag and you are DQ'd from the session.

Quali is not super important in the scheme of things but if he has to start from 61st that is a serious delay by the time he gets back among the front Hypercars.

I agree, but it very strict compared to the five-place penalty for the more disruptive incident that Bamber caused at Spa. I suppose the issue there is more with Bamber's penalty than Kobayashi's.

If you are one of the cars that will end up with a DNF, then qualy is not important, but against tough competition (one of them will not hit trouble) then you are immediately on the backfoot by an amount of time equal to that lost making your way forward.

They will be hoping for a safety car to nullify the start disadvantage.

Kobayashi also crashed on the test day. He is going to feel the pressure in the race.

Interesting interview on Sportscar 365, it is very obvious Porsche is fast straight out on cold tyres , they have shown it in all the rounds so far, is something underhand suspected?
***Ferrari’s global head of endurance Antonello Coletta is hoping that tire warm-up doesn’t play a disproportionate role in deciding the outcome of this year’s Le Mans, which is set to feature relatively cool temperatures, with tire warmers now outlawed.

***Coletta also made a veiled reference to Porsche’s apparent ability to switch on its tires more quickly than the competition. He told assembled media: “It will be very important for the sporting authorities to check the temperatures of the tires when they are mounted on the cars. In past races we have already seen that someone has been very good at having warmer tires and on a track like this, where we lose over 15 seconds on the out lap with cold tires, it would be unacceptable not to have control.

***He added: “Having a rule and not controlling it wouldn’t make much sense, especially if it determines performance and a very important difference in times. Losing 15 seconds in a lap is practically impossible to then recover it in a stint, and I wouldn’t want Le Mans to be decided by the warm-up of tires at night or in other difficult situations.”

Sounds like he's just moaning because the Ferrari struggles to warm it's tyres up.

I'm kind of surprised #50 has already fitted the race engine.

Quite. Are we supposed to think Porsche has a hidden oven or other illegal heating thing ? Somehow that seems unlikely, given the open nature of the pits and the number of officials there are wandering about...

Stewards Decision for #7 DQ in Quali.

"Considering that the driver has caused the red flag, considering that there is no obvious reason to cancel only part of his lap times, and considering that the stewards see no exceptional circumstances allowing them not to apply the principle established by this article, they decide to cancel all his lap times.

As a result, the car 7 will start at the back of the grid of the Hypercar category."
