Are you sure that the DTM is heading towards GTs? Because it's a Touring Car Masters, not a GT Masters, right?

Right now the DTM cars are as much prototypes as touring cars, and closer in spirit to the Group 5 cars that participated in the heyday (pre-Group C) of the DRM.
They might as well move that way rather than going back to a touring car spec if they have a partner and moderately unfilled niche there, compared to all the S2000/successor competition they would face in the 'proper' touring car niche. |

With DRM being currently used for Deutsche Rallyesport Meisterschaft I suggest they call it DSM (Deutsche Sportwagen Masters)

Could the arrival of a Porsche LMP1 be sooner than we think? See this article most of which is not new but it also hints that Porsche and Audi could race against each over at Le Mans. |

Were not in the same group Audi and Bentley in 2003?
Well, I suppose it may happen again with Porsche return in Le Mans. Porsche is not so much under the rules of VAG as Bentley. I suppose they'll come back in Le Mans with Penske Racing. This new was in the air since two years... Porsche has achieved a lot of experience with its RS Spyder, and is ready to face Audi and Peugeot in P1. No doubt Porsche is working on a competitive car for P1 class, at the same way of Spyder in P2. |

With these comments being made, I don't think there could be any doubt that the much awaited return is on the cards. Just a case of when not if!
"Porsche boss Michael Macht told Autosport the company had "big plans for the future" and promised an announcement "that will surprise you" in the spring." "Everyone in the Porsche family would be happy to go to Le Mans to challenge for victory again." "Wolfgang Durheimer, Porsche board member in charge of motorsport, confirmed that there is no reason why Porsche and Audi couldn't race against each other at Le Mans" |

well, they will race against each other but at least one of both without works support then. A true surprise by now would be if Porsche goes and does it all alone without customer teams like Penske or Joest.

I like the "that will surprise you" quote from that story. I'm guessing a hybrid or version, or possibly diesel to promote the Panamara!

Okay, that's a point... But why should Audi share their flag ship cars with Porsche? That would be like making a competing company a present of your glory sucess at times where all the manufactures are fighting for market shares. |

The earliest Porsche will enter LMP1 is 2011. They are not going to build a car that is only legal for 1 year.

Wolfgang Durheimer, Porsche board member in charge of motorsport, confirmed that there is no reason why Porsche and Audi couldn't race against each other at Le Mans, despite them both being part of the VW Group now.
