For anybody who remembers, IMSA GTP in 1993 gave us a preview of late 2010's/early 2020's WEC. Toyota dominance.

That's going back a long time. But I can see the similarities. But fair play to Toyota for doing their homework, just need more to challenge them

Interesting engine note - sounds different that what I expected. Does it seem like he's short shifting a lot, or that the rpm drops a little more than usual on upshifts? Wondering if there's sand in the gearbox.

Apparently sounds a lot better today as most of the sand has been deposited around the circuit and they are not short shifting at all!

In some of the onboards the car looks very understeery, and the body roll through the corners is surprising.
Have TMG designed a fundamentally unbalanced car? Or are the setting it up poorly on purpose to as not to show their true hand? Of course, some of the above can be attributed to increased weight and trimmed downforce. |

Not such a good race from Toyota but a win is a win. The #7 particularly needs to have a look over with its multiple issues. New car gremlins sure, but concerning with Alpine very close and lmp2 being right with them except the ends of straights.

Was it just one of the car of both that kept having braking issues? I was under the impression they struggled in the dirty air behind other cars all race, but didn't really take note which Toyota did what.

Toyota may have won again, but they weren't as dominant as they were previously, which is a good sign for the year ahead

both toyotas had braking issues, more than once they ran through les combes runoff struggling during braking... guess regenerative ERS brake + extra weight give a lot of stress to carbon brakes that work effectively only if in a range of temps.

What are the odds of bop coming into favor Toyota and Alpine soon? With how long it took to put the p2s off the lead lap, I think theres going to be more pressure put on the ACO.

Can we try not to turn every thread into the same topic. Not really specific to Toyota. The WEC 2021 thread is just over there. Thanks.

Best car magazine (Japanese car gossip magazine) is reporting that Toyota will withdraw from WEC by this year because GR010 Hybrid had burnt down in Fuji test.
(No other source has confirmed that the GR010 has been tested at Fuji.) https://twitter.com/M_simacher/statu...75393639346178 Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 10 Jul 2021 at 09:21. |

Ogier has had discussions with Vasselon about some outings next year in the Hypercar.

I've read elsewhere on here that Toyota are planning a fairly big joker upgrade for next season. Could this be in response to Peugeot's design and merging LMDH cars, or does the current version of the GR010 have a major issue?
