FIA World Council meets Friday with initial approvals of the various Calenders on the agenda, followed by their public release. This will give the strongest official indication, though as we all know someone somewhere will put an * next to it.

So the big news is that the NJ race promoters "filed some paperwork."
Great, now all they have to do is find some sponsors to hand over $100M and the race is on! Right. |

Exactly! It is the best weapon Bernie has to challenge the venues who try to discuss the 40M USD entry fee expected these days...

As explained by this article in Autoweek, the New Jersey race is very unlikely to take place in 2014. And I doubt that it will ever happen.
Is Formula One really coming to New Jersey? Don't bet on it All signs point to F1 Grand Prix of America at Port Imperial not happening By: Mac Morrison on October 17, 2013 autoweek.com ...Here's the bad news, race fans, though we await official confirmation: It won't happen, at least not next year. The money is not in place, according to heavy-hitting industry sources who spoke on condition of anonymity... ...Regardless, time is almost officially up on any chance of F1 visiting New Jersey next season. Ecclestone recently told Autoweek contributor and Formula Money editor Christian Sylt, “the $100 million needs to be in place by the end of November, and the final calendar will be released in December.” There's no reason to believe after two years of attempted fundraising, and the full amount still not secured, that it will appear at the 11th hour. The lack of action and announcements -- and Hindery's silence -- is loud and clear. Read more: http://www.autoweek.com/article/2013...#ixzz2ixPHbpWG |

It's just another charade.... why do they keep happening? Greed, dreamers? What is it?
Why on earth can't BC and whoever get involved with the owners of Watkins Glen and spend a sensible amount of millions upgrading the facilities there to hold a race (where there will surely be guaranteed interest) rather than messing about with various states looking to build completely new facilities. I think folk get carried away with the Austin scenario which itself looked a bit dodgy in the beginning and think hey we can do that to? |
