Yes, Pascal mentioned it a couple of posts above. And a very early start to scrutineering too....

Possibly Guy, but schools will be back in France, a lot of people all over the world will be suffering financially as a result of the current crisis and others will have prior competing arrangements. The hard core fans will go if they can, but the ACO were not expecting a record crowd this year following the change in the regulations..It's not everyone's cup of tea to watch racing in the dark and there will be more of that in a September race than one in the weekend closest to the summer solstice.

If we can travel. At the moment we wont get insurance due to the FCO advice. I've confirmed my booking for the revised dates.

French PM Edouard Philippe responding to a question at tonight's press conference:
Travel to and from France? PM: Unreasonable to go back to normal at this stage. I wonder when it will be reasonable. It is possible that the race will go ahead in September but that we can't all get there. |

Tour de France finishes the same weekend. Don’t worry about any extra sporting tourism effecting travel though. The tunnel won’t over book or anything like that. No they don’t do that. At all. It’s all just a coincidence.

I’m quite up for a September race. Something different. Almost tempting, but it would be rash.

Well not sure it is worth getting worried about clashes with the tour de france as the chances of both happening is an outside bet for sure.

Does this year's TdF route go anywhere near LM (or even the route from the channel ports to LM) ?

I remember it doing that too, but couldn’t remember the year. I kind of thought the last time was later than that, but time flies! Maybe it was a different year, as you are right about 2011, the route heads towards the circuit and then just before the original circuit heads off East.

That said, I'm still not certain how things will go with these two events. This won't be the last time they're brought up in the same conversation. I wonder from an ACO perspective whether a 'behind closed doors' Le Mans is viable? |
