RLM will provide two different commentaries for the rest of the WEC. On the ACO app you get John Hindhaugh and Graham Goodwin (but only for qualifying and the race), while on Radio Le Mans you get someone else - the article doesn't say who, but I'd guess a combination of Jonny Palmer, Paul Truswell, Bruce Jones and maybe a couple of others. |

Good news on the face of it I'd say. We could have been left with Andrew Mariott talking for six hours but they've put in place the people fans recognise as the voice of sportscars.
Personally I doubt I'll ever watch a race on the app so it would be interesting to see whether MotorsTV take Hindy/GG. I'm guessing they will? Very happy to listen to those guys for six hours but Trussers will be missed. On the flipside whatever is broadcast on RLM won't feel quite the same without the other two. But there you go - compromises have to be made and after some of the worrying noises this is a good situation. |

At least RLM survives but i suspect the ACO app will take some of the advertising cash which will have a long term effect on the ability of RLM to survive when things get a little less attractive in the world of sportscar racing, at the moment everything is going great but these things can change

And if RLM do front up with Truswell/Palmer/Collins/Daman/etc. I'm going to have to get my split audio headphones out! |

I think it's obvious they've been grooming Jonny Palmer for a while. He was lead commentator on all of the ELMS last season, and this year he commentated on the start of Le Mans - the first time someone other than Hindy's done that in over a decade.

And a mighty fine job it was too.
What do we call the two versions? RLM-H and RLM-L? Which one will we download? |

RLM-L (if that's what we call the radio-only feed) will be on the podcasts.

Well, being the sad act that I am, I've now listened to the whole of the practice, qually and race podcasts for this year's LM 24 Hours. (And I'm 8 hours into the race for a second time). Maybe it's just me, but I hugely enjoy reliving the event in this way. I only listen to it in the car to and from work (just under 2 hours each day).

Question - will we receive a diluted RLM experience at Le Mans this year?
It would appear that John is contracted to commentate on the WEC TV coverage, and was not, therefore, a part of the RLM Silverstone WEC team a couple of weeks ago. I assume it will be the same at Spa next weekend. A somewhat larger pool of commentators will be needed at Le Mans, which raises a slight concern (for me) that a number of our 'favourites' could potentially be drafted in to the TV commentary team, leaving RLM depleted and padded out with less of the more familiar faces (or voices) involved. I am probably being alarmist, but I'm not overly keen on the prospect of wholesale change to the make up of the Le Mans commentary team. I want John at the beginning and the end of the race, I want Trussers' interjections throughout the race, I want Joe Bradley in the pitlane, I like the increasingly important contribution Sam Collins makes. I could go on, there are several more who (for me) are key. As I say, I am probably being alarmist.... |

Remember that John didn't commentate on the WEC for radio last season. He was still at Le Mans, though he didn't do the start of the race. RLM's WEC coverage this season looks like it will be exactly the same as last year (Jonny Palmer, Bruce Jones and Paul Truswell), so I can't see why Le Mans would be any different to last year either. |

I'll flag this thread up with John and Eve guys but the situation as far as I know is this:
All seven 6 hour WEC races will see John and I working on the WEC TV commentary with Louise Beckett in pitlane - That's the feed that is used, amongst others, by Motors, Fox in the USA etc The Le Mans 24 Hours has a different contract which is still Eurosport exclusive in the UK and several other markets - That sits alongside but entirely separately from RLM. I'm not expecting any major changes to the RLM coverage for this year and don't expect for a single second that John will be doing any less than the ludicrous number of hours he usually does across the week and for the race. Hope that helps |

Fingers crossed on that Graham - RLM as we know it is effectively indispensible to the Le Mans experience for most of us. At the risk of being savaged by other forum members for saying this, we 'eat, sleep, race and repeat' RLM.... I certainly repeat it - I've now listened to the entire '14 commentary 4 times.....

Yes Andrew RLM is an essential part of the trip, without it we would all be much poorer

What's the full line up?
Other than the ones listed on the last few posts, who are we missing? How many of the US lot coming over? Shea Adam? I'm enjoying her contributions during the IMSA races, the right level of enthusiasm and professionalism. |
