Andrew Abbott should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Despite the fact that nothing is under official announcement and the website is under construction, www.clydevalleyracing.com does contain a graphic of a CVR-liveried Chevrolet Lacetti.

Besides, what "information" do you have Alfa Fan? That's very vague.

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Contact with someone within the team, but I really shouldn't say any more until it becomes public whether they are doing it or not.

The initial plan was to run Chevrolets, but that might of changed.

I'm sure someone within the team would tell a member of the public what's going on as well, especially when things like this have to be rather secretive........

I'd love to see Chevvies on the grid next year, but 2 bio-fuel cars from a new team would be a good addition under any circumstances, especially with Dan Eaves behind the wheel.

The lack of team confirmations at this stage is a little worrying, but thigns don't usually come together until the new year anyway. Hopefully teams with S2000 cars like Geoff Steel, Motorbase and Quest will make things official for 2007 soon, and Dynamics and WSR will sort things out.

Everything seems to be being confirmed a little late in the BTCC this year...

Not really - things are normally quite late in being announced in the BTCC. I'd expect a few things to come out at the show for a start with more to follow in the coming weeks.

The 2007 calendar was certainly announced much later than it has been in recent years - the beginning of December was late, relatively speaking.

Perhaps it is the deprivation of any motorsport during the off-season that makes some announcements seem to take longer. After all, we haven't quite had the Autosport show yet which usually produces a fair amount of news and discussion.

Driver line-ups, even the teams competing are rarely confirmed until just before the season.

That we know there are two SEAT's, one Plato - and both VXR drivers and the car is more than we normally would.

As for the calendar, there were clearly some issues with some events which slowed that up somewhat, namely Mondello & Silverstone.

The calendar was later partly due to the demands of live TV and the need to avoid any F1 clashes.

Driver/team announcements are not late. Historically, by the time of the Autosport show we've known the works teams at best, which is no different this year. For most of the smaller teams, they will still be working on deals right up until the entry cut-off date or even later. Even the likes of Team Dynamics haven't previously announced plans until very late on.

What we have normally had by this time in previous years is endless speculation and lists based on little more that smallest of throwaway comment. Thankfully that seems to be missing this year.

One announcment that will be made at the Autosport show is that Darren Turner is to be Plato's team-mate at Seat.

Now, who didn't see that coming?

In general, I would agree Works teams are waiting later in announcing their drivers/efforts, but have privateers been waiting longer/later about their efforts? I guess limited/struggling budgets for Works teams is something new while privateers have always struggled with finances?

It's only January. I think some people are just bored and have had a long winter so far. Entry list doesn't even close until the end of next month.

I see someone has finally confirmed that Ekut Kazillimak has bought the Astra Sport Hatches from 888 and will be running 2 cars, one for him and Paul O'Neill is expected in the second car, both run by Techspeed.

Is Paul O'Neill expected though? Or is it just another figment of someone's imagination?

if it is true, it would be good to see him back, even in a BTC spec car.

I've seen this on a few forums now, but have not seen any confirmation myself. Whilst I don't doubt that it's true, I am left wondering who/what the source is.

I take it your not expecting Paul O'Neill to return to the BTCC then?

I'm just not getting my hopes up. After all, it took two and a half years for someone to take a punt on him after he last raced.

See on the BTCC.net forum that someone's posted the WSR RAC team are to announce at Autosport 2 2007 spec BMW 320si's one for Turkington, the other for Eaves, Smith or Howell.

Gavin Smith I assume? In any case, let's hope that comes off and that the BMWs are competitive, which didn't happen when they were up against BTC-spec cars. Has Rob Collard been linked with anyone for next year?
