Doing early set up of the car for Reynolds next year perhaps? May as well start while they can, he knows what Dave likes.

Hard to know where to put this:
http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/c...l?sf15558570=1 Red Bull recruits a new engineer from the Mercedes DTM team. I'd reckon with 5 years under her belt in DTM she should be able to do the business in V8s. |

It's just data acquisition mostly. As per the image in the link, mostly pouring over a laptop doing data dumps and analysis.
Not quite what the likes of Dutton, McPhearson or Cauchi do. |

You underestimate the role. The data engineer has to be analyse car vitals, look for any signs of issues, then further analyse driver and car performances to find where time is being lost or gained, this in itself is crucial improving a car over the course of the weekend. Understanding damper histograms, FFT's etc, it's important stuff. On top of that the data engineer determines the strategy options during the race, has to keep track of fuel windows, Safety car windows and know exact fuel target numbers a driver must achieve to complete the race. While doing all that number crunching they're also keeping an eye on the telemetry to ensure the car is healthy and no mechanical issues are appearing. It's a full on role and not one that just anyone can jump into and if the data engineer makes a mistake, you can often find yourself stranded on the side of the track. They certainly didn't reach out to an experienced German for nothing.

I'm not underestimating it, and not over-selling it either.

Roland doesn't hire people just for shits and giggles. She's there for good reasons and to fill a needed role so good on her.
Haven't heard of anyone coming from DTM to V8 Supercars (Mattias Ekstrom aside) so maybe this is a first |

I think he's referring to Janelle Novarro, who's worked for PRA, Erebus, and now LDM. |

You know the majority of the time, the V8SC and AdCafe pages write their stories based on press releases supplied by the teams, right?

Will the regular pilots in #4, #111 & #222 make a return for Homebush?

He had his time back then, made his mark and moved on, with all his song and dance about it. He should have never come back the way he did and I think he knew he'd do more damage to his record by hanging around. I'll give him credit for what he did this year, and that's as far as I go with him. |

Was not a former Bathurst winner a competitor in German touring cars?
