Excellent.I have never seen Sky coverage but I fear its apparent saturation approach might be too rich a diet for me. I very much like the Ch 4 team -if I put nostalgia for the old days of Murray and James aside , I think their coverage (and mix of presenters ) is as good as I've seen . But I do miss Brundle - he is a broadcasting natural

I guess one question is whether Channel 4 will use their own presenting team, or if they will simply use the Sky feed in entirety with Sky commentary.

IIRC, when they (Ch4) recently showed the Emma Raducanu final, it was a direct feed of the Amazon broadcast.

Well, I look forward to the opportunity to experience the Sky team, I always used to like Martin Brundle's work. (But I also fear I may well be back on here on Monday complaining about 'Shouty Crofty'!)

If we want it for free - we don't deserve a say in who commentates.

Seriously - it is good that the compromise has been reached, but I am against a position that sports of any type should be FTA, just because.

If a FTA broadcaster can justify the cost of obtaining coverage, then fine. But if the market drives it behind a paywall, then our own judgment has to be made on whether we think it is worth the expense...

do yourself a big favour and don't watch it with any of the words of people in this thread in your mind. and watch the tv for yourself rather than listening to the words to tell you how to interpret the data on the screen.

i watched the race last weekend (on a dodgy stream, i'm not made of money) and don't get what people are complaining about with crofty. maybe folk are looking for a bit more of a wildlife documentary style like you get in endurance racing.

Honestly...I like Croft. He isn't amazing, but he's a lot better than most series have. He'll never be Murray (nobody ever will be), but I feel like we've forgotten how bad Legard and Allen were in the box.

I stand corrected! I expected them to use Jacques and Coulthard (or Billy Monger), but hey ho.

If anything really tasty happens I can flick channels and watch it again as they're almost always about 5-10 seconds apart

And thanks, Akrapovic. I'd forgotten them - Legard, a bit like Croft, was really good on the BBC radio coverage but just didn't swap well to TV.

Just hope you don't get the typical 'football in a pub' situation where one room is a few seconds ahead of another.

Back in the day, Allen got it with both barrels on this forum. I remember someone on here saying be careful what you wish for, I think it might have been Super Hans. He was probably right, on reflection.

These days, I sometimes wonder what he would have been like if he hadn't been trying to do his job on ITV, the channel where talent goes to die (or, at least, it was back then). Probably still dreadful to be honest, but Legard subsequently made James look like peak Murray Walker.

Crofty is just another James Allen really. So from this day on I will take that old forummers advice, just in case we get another Legard.

I was looking at Saturday on tvguide.co.uk and that doesn't include showing Qualifying live on C4, only highlights.

That information will also be part of the channel's release that gets ingested into EPGs on certain devices.
Channel 4 still haven't released an updated dataset that includes the new coverage details.

Edit - Channel 4 are not showing qualifying live, just the race.
