According to Motorsport.com, plans are underway for a biosphere at the 2021season opener in Melbourne. A biosphere model is making its debut at Abu Dhabi this weekend.

would Austria not have been their first 'biosphere' attempt? private airport, secluded venues (apart from those people watching from up in the mountains).
wow does Austria feel like such a long time ago! |

It was a complete joke back then. Putting out stories that they would still have a season just to keep the shareholders happy.

Indeed, hats off to them, they've achieved something many, including me, that looked impossible.

In Austria they started "bubbles" - you could be wherever you want (if I remember correctly) as long as you don't mix with others (mostly with people from outside). Now they all have to stay in certain area and they cannot exit it.

Can they do anything with the dreadful Melbourne track layout so that we get a decent race there for once?
Given the success of the Sakhir race, and the often good races at the Austria and Brazil tracks, we can see that the tracks do not necessarily need to be massively long and complex. I'm thinking of tracks like Singapore and even this weeks Abu Dhabi - which rarely excite. Any chance that the powers upon high can do something with those tracks as well as Australia and Spain to liven those often dull races up a bit? |

There's nothing they can do with Albert Park as the track is made up of public roads in the parkland, which surround the lake. |

Well in a a country of the size of Australia, if that is the best that they can come up with, its a shame.
Liberty could surely look down the back of their couch and find enough millions to buy up some of the land & buildings , and then hire a bulldozer in order to reprofile one or two of the corners? |

However, sadly none of the others are suitable for F1. |

Albert Park I don’t think is that bad. It’s no Adelaide, but it has it’s challenges and it has become a good fixture on the calendar. It helps too the Aussies love their motorsport

The problem is the circuit is basically an endless curve, the cars run high downforce, and wake turbulence takes care of any passing or close running.

It sure is a curve all down the eastern side, I used to run around that damned lake every morning when I worked there in the army.

No sooner has the off season started and it's all gone quiet, then F1 announces a 5 year deal with Interlagos. Excellent news.

To be fair Brazil was also a great place to start the season too back in the day.

Toto now saying that Albert Park will most probably not happen due to Australia's quarantine requirements. There is obviously a lot of stuff happening that the F1 teams know about but aren't saying and this might be a back handed way of softening the impact of the announcement which must happen shortly, perhaps this week or the next. I wonder if tickets were refunded last year, anyone know?

Be a massive shame if it was called off again, Australia has always been a great venue for F1

Knockhill would be good. I am sure Nicola would fund it, start it present the awards, do all the interviews and take all the credit.
