Unfortunately it's a fact that a lot of fans still fail to understand... A driver only 'deserves' to be on the grid when they have the talent and can also raise the necessary funding. If Jade, Hamilton, Butel etc can raise the funding to get on the grid then they deserve to be there just as much as the front runners.

True, but it amounts to the same thing. He wasn't given a seat on talent alone, but was required to fund the drive.

And, exactly how Plato described the criteria for being supported by the KX Akademy in 2013:
"There's thousands of people in motorsport with no money, and if you've got no backing it doesn't matter how good you are, you're not going to succeed. Not only do these guys have to be talented in the car but they have to be shrewd operators. You've got to be sharp, you've got to be a salesman. If you haven't got any sponsors, you're not going to make it, and we don't want to back those people." |

But you missed the point there by a long way. Put in a front running car (some might say the best on the grid) and then only score 1 point shows that the driver leaves a lot to be desired. |

To be fair, that was in the year where they rolled a dice to select a winner.....

They never roll a dice to select a winner, wins are always hard earned, although some have required luck and then there's those that use questionable tactics...

Or watch Speedworks announce Sam Smelt again... If Proctor's out for Plato, might we see him return to PMR? Would hope he isn't desperate enough for the Cupra! |

As of 3 days ago, the Collards confirmed that a deal was not in place. Perhaps this is part of the continued effort to get a deal signed?

More likely it's the finance part of the deal that is not in place. I get the impression that it's 95% Collard's seat but just needs that last little bit of backing confirmed before either Collard or Speedworks are prepared to sign on the dotted line.

I'm sure we will get a full grid confirmed by the end of the test

Looks like 15 cars for F4 media day.
Wikipedia says 17 for Ginetta GT4s. |
