I spent years not liking Plato because I was always a Matt Neal fan. But when a driver of his calibre (because you can't fault how talented he is in a fwd touring car) struggles you kind of look back and appreciate just how good them rivalries were between him and Neal.

[pedant mode] Since he's joined BTC only Turkington has had more wins. (14-Turkington, 11-Sutton, 11-Cook). Since he's joined BTC, he has 19 podiums. In the same time, Turkington has 29, Sutton and Cammish 25, Ingram 24. [/pedant mode]

But agree - IMO, BTC have been the strongest non-manufacturer team over the last 4-5 years.

Plato is a bit like Marmite, love or hate him . He is high profile and the BTCC needs Stars and the publicity it brings to the Series. He made a big mistake taking a year out.

Delighted with the JP news! Hope he can get to 100 wins and be competitive from the off.

I do feel for Proctor though, did very well last year

I think we can pencil in Ricky Collard at Toyota. So who is going to fill the remaining two seats?

Hard to imagine any 'big' names in either. Though HARD's lineup is very very good regardless (and that's the only thing 'very very good' about them!), PMR kinda needs someone decent (not Constable) to be in with a chance of scoring any points.

Ricky is a great signing (as someone said, if he's got the money for testing he must have the money for the season) and finally we have 2 front-running Toyotas.

I'm always wrong, but would be surprised if Nic didn't continue at HARD.

No idea on PMR.

There a few pictures of Plato in the paddock at Croft, and especially one of him being interviewed on camera, and he is wearing his old Adrian Flux race suit from 2017 with the BMR/Subaru logs cover in tank and a hastily stuck on BTC Racing patch. Obviously Adrian Flux will be his main sponsor but if they were going to announce his drive today I would have at least expect the team to provide him with the appropriate race suit.

Depends on other sponsors etc, if deals are still being negotiated then race suits, team wear etc won't have been produced yet.

Drivers quite often wear old overalls for testing. I think Dan Lloyd was wearing old Lukoil overalls from his TCR Europe season, I wouldn’t read anything into it.

Even then they might not be the right overalls. The Subaru was launched with the four drivers all wearing suits which were only for show.

I wasn't reading anything into it, just thought it was odd. For a typical off-season general test day there no reason to care what you are wearing, but on the day you are announced with a new team and there is a good chance of being on camera, wearing a rival team's colours and potentially showing logos from companies that no longer sponsors seemed an odd choice. If the team haven't finalised their colours/sponsors then I would have expected a plain un-branded suit.

It looks like the BTCC Game might not appear in 2022 now, as a result of the war in Ukraine.

The developers were producing it in their Moscow studio, and sanctions mean development is unable to continue. The release has been dropped from their schedule for the upcoming year(s):

Shame but I kind of expected it, even before the war. This game was supposed to be released this year and still there were no news regarding it. A pity, I mean, I probably wouldn't even have time to think of buying it but still would like to see at least some videos of what it looks like.

The team's main sponsor hasn't been announced yet, and the other two drivers were wearing last year's race suits too. Wearing this year's clothing would pre-empt the announcement.

Given the company doesn’t have enough funding to see out the end of the year we probably won’t see it or the WEC game appear at all. Given what they did with NASCAR that’s not a bad thing if the licence ends up in someone else’s hands though.

Didn't JP auction off a load of old race suits on Ebay to raise money for charity a while ago? Maybe that's the only one he's got left?
