Meanwhile Mitch Evans lines up in 5th place in the Top 8 reverse grid race in the next few minuets. Lets hope the circuit dries out some more, as Mitch's car just didn't have the pace in the wet race to challenge the leaders but had enough pace to best Jolyon Palmer by some 10 second's. |

Pretty Strong Weekend for the kiwis at Spa.
Earl Bamber is now leading Porsche Supercup, after winning. Strong Results for Stanaway and Evans as well. And thats after Kiwi Clean sweep in V8SC over the Weekend |

Apart from rowing, I can't think of a single other sport where sitting down going backwards is involved, and considering that rowing is one of the few "proper" sports that remain in the Olympics (unlike such things as golf, tennis or rhythmic gymnastics) I suggest we accord it proper respect.

Okeley dokely....Monza time.
Any predictions for our kiwi stars in gp2 and gp3? Richie seems to have settled well in to gp3. Mitch is seemingly having an up and down year, but when on form seems right up there with Palmer, Nasr etc. Is Bamber running this weekend? |

The Porsche SuperCup is on at Monza this weekend. The last round is Circuit of the Americas in November.

Evans qualified p3 for R1, Stanaway p5......good start from both...I reckon podiums are on the cards.

Unfortunately Richie had a shocker, and was lucky to finish 9th but with GP2 and 3's lousy race formats and points system no points for finishing 9th while the man one place in front of him gets to start from Pole tomorrow, go figure! |

Cheers for the update Mark.....i tried to stay awake last night to catch the GP2 race live, but alas fell asleep on the couch between Q2 and Q3 for F1.....those engines do tend to put me and the missus to sleep these days!
Agree on the points system and race formats. I have never liked reverse grids and i think everyone who finishes should get some points, otherwise the points table has so many zeros in it that you can't really see any individual performances....but, as we all say in Msport - it is what it is |

Bummer! Both guys DNFed in their respective Races 2. Stanaway with an apparent car failure and Evans with suspension damage after a bit of a do or die passing move for 5th.
Agree with your observation on spreading the points down the field but not with your thoughts on reverse grids. They sort the men out from the boys, lead to the possibility of much more overtaking as the faster cars come through and above all provide much more interest from a spectator viewpoint. Not to mention being much more satisfying for the driver if you come from behind to win. We need more reverse grid races to get away from the generally processional racing that is common place in many races these days. More reverse grid races might help get the spectators back also, and that can only be good for everyone. Last edited by Rusty Nail; 7 Sep 2014 at 09:46. Reason: spelling |

interesting the comments from the commentators during the GP3 race about drivers ability to handle reverse grids - those that are not able to will not progress - I like the idea of say the top 8-10 to be reversed but not a full reverse as this only leads to unnecessary damage - TRS or was it TR86 last year did a draw for the number to be reversed for their second race, eg 4,6,8 - this was done on after the first race so there was no one playing silly games to be in position for Race two.
Pity about both Ritchie and Mitch at the weekend - could both have come away with good points - it is a little tough out there! |

If someone is not going to chase another position because they are in 8th and set for a Race 2 pole then they are not going to be serious contenders anyway because they have the wrong mindset AND they could be at risk from the guy in 9th who figures he has nothing to lose by attempting a do or die. I hope TRS get rid of that stupid draw for this season. |

Bamber was 3rd in the Porsche race to claim the rookie title and still maintain the lead in the overall championship.

UPDATE: Hayden still 7th after SS3. He sits just behind Neuville in 6th and is thus the 2nd best Hyundai at this point.
Lets hope he achieves his well earned goal of a top 5 finish. |

Paddon is really holding his own today. There is live coverage on sky sport right now. Just seen Hayden take fastest time thru SS10 by half a second!!!! Just outstanding but still more drivers to come. But as I write Paddon is at the top. No doubt this will change. Currently Paddon Otsberg Neuville and Evans. Hirvonen out now and has just gone quicker than Hayden.
Surely he must be lined up for a full time drive next year? He really is proving to be a revelation for WRC |

Great to see Hayden Paddon finishing 6th in WRC Australia.
Beat the Hyundai number 1 by one and a half minutes. |
