Well as expected Shank found the funding for the second car with Heinricher. It appears she's not driving again this year so guessing she has the sponsors for MSR.
It's Alvaro Parente and Misha Goikhberg in all season in the 57, with Hindman in for the Endurance Cup and Almendinger for Daytona. https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/h...th-new-lineup/ |

Chassis quality hasn't been crucial to RWR's business model thus far, so I'm not sure why it would matter now... |

The 86 MSR car gets 3rd and 4th drivers today, Jules Gounon in for Daytona and Shinya Michimi for the enduro rounds, stepping up from US Super Trofeo and SuperGT.
Another Aston Martin for Daytona, Dalla Lana with factory AMR team in GTD for Daytona only. He's running with I think the usual cast of characters, Ross Gunn, Mathias Lauda and Pedro Lamy. It sounds like a Daytona only program without any thought to further IMSA rounds. |

Remember that the Riley/Multimatic received all the Mazda updates (new rear suspension and bellhousing) after the debut year when the car got the podium. When BAR1 made the race with the updated car they did almost no practice with the car. It was fitted with the Continentals that year.
So, the car should be a bit better than in 2017, but the team have to know the car. On the other side, the Orecas have made million of miles of testing and races with tons of data. Rick Ware should try to get all the possible data from Mazda team about the Michelin tires throught Multimatic if they want to be near the Orecas. |

Gtd could a Nice size grid for daytona. Maybe 20 cars?
Entry list has come before Christmas in past but also after as well. I will guess it will be 42 cars overall. |

Well it is a Mazda and those are his engines so why wouldn't he want to race it? Dyson possibly eyeing a privateer Mazda DPi?

Other S365 notes from Bahrain to impact IMSA.
***Aston Martin Racing has ruled out a GT Le Mans entry for January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, with managing director John Gaw confirming to Sportscar365 that the British manufacturer will focus its efforts around its two new-gen Vantage GT3 cars, which are set for their North American debuts. ***Longtime The Heart of Racing-backed driver Alex Riberas is expected to be confirmed as a full-season driver for the newly formed team’s Aston Martin effort, with an increased role for the Spaniard possible within the AMR structure. ***AF Corse will not be present at Daytona for the first time since 2011, with team principal Amato Ferrari confirming to Sportscar365 that his team will have no entries for either the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener or Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March. |

Confident now that DPI will have 9, LMP2 6 (15 prototypes overall), and GTLM 7. For the latter, Risi and R.L.L. should be licking their chops. Got to think Porsche and Corvette could have new car teething issues come up. Although they will be fast. Would not be surprised GTLM pole qualifying time to be in the 1 min 41 bracket. Getting into Gen 3 DP era times there. |

It's going to be a busy busy event at Sebring with the WEC taking over Friday.
New time for WEC race, 12-8 pm. Sounds like it's to allow more track & corner worker, and a few drivers, rest between races. Means Friday is now IMSA quali before lunch and the WEC race. Thursday is IMSA PC race, Michelin Pilot race, WEC quali and IMSA night practice. Sounds like a lot of racing for your money. |

Super Sebring indeed, and possibly a better deal all around than last year.

Sebring WEC race gets a lot more daylight racing now. That is the best part. Too bad that series is not that great right now. Ford and BMW leaving made things very ordinary in the GT category. IMSA GTLM is in a tad better shape, but not much more. And we know the deal with LMP. |
