Certainly was! (it was also powered by a Peugeot engine - that must have had some influence )
It's a beauty no matter what you say |

I say, it looks good as long as you're not watching it along a real beauty of the genre, like the XJR12.

Awesome! The Peugeot hybrid is out and about, time for Toyota to show theirs? Hybrid has to be included, surely they won't let Peugeot one-up them in the hybrid LMP wars?

"Tomorrow"... timezones: if it's just a press release it could come any minute now? In Tokyo it's 5 o'clock in the morning.

I don´t want to be rude but i suspect that is them saying that Hybrid program just in 2014 and 2012/13 just engine suply
I really want them to come to Le mans but I think is to soon for them. |

Everything points to them entering a factory effort. We already know their engine supply. Toyota announcing something that trivial while everyone knows their keeping a bad secret just seems unlikely. Plus we have a good source in Mr. Mike.

I hope so as well, but I don't know if Toyota will run an american program. WEC is more likely, I would say they will do WEC, hopefully not just LeMans.

An LMP1 WEC program at least means we would get to see the cars race "over here" so I'd take that. Running at Sebring is the best prep they could do for Le Mans IMO.
I hope it's not just a hybrid announcement or engine supply deal for LMP1, as you said that's not really big news. We need another factory team and who knows what Aston will be up to now??? |

Rebellion TMG Hybrid 2012/13 with 3 cars (3rd car all Japanese line-up) followed by full factory effort (Rebellion to Toyota as Oreca to Peugeot) in 2014 maybe?

I could see TMG offering Rebellion a hybrid option on a customer basis. Perhaps Rebellion could be used to test technology, but let's face it, Toyota is more than capable of doing their own testing and their own racing in-house. Could Toyota do what Acura did? I suppose, but I think any significant effort from Toyota would be fully in-house.

We'll just have to wait and see. Anything involving them with their own car is good news.

But, yeah, petrol hybrid. I think they have a real shot with the way the rules are right now. EDIT: Here are some more details and a sketch. |

Great news!
Having 3 big manufacturers in the WEC and Le mans is excelent. When was the last time we had so many big factory teams? 1990 - 2000? Welcome Toyota! I just hope the rules are now OK and we will not see a clear advantage for diesel over petrol or petrol over diesel. |

1999 had BMW, Toyota, Audi, Mercedes and Nissan all in the same year and in 1998 you could add Porsche to the list too.

This is an early Christmas present. So happy. Even with all the rumours it is great to have it confirmed. Hopefully this is just the start.
My deposit will be going down for Le Mans 2012 on Monday! |
