Nascar got some more highlights with a bunch of crunched up cars just past the bus stop. We'll do it all at least one more time.

They are tearing up some gear now.
This finish may take a while. Wife will have to wait on me starting the Tacos. |

Danica led a few laps on pit strategy so
I tuned into to her radio .Anyhow that was short lived and she made it back to her comfort zone of 25th. She told her crew chief "the car is tight and loose." Not sure what you do to fix that. Needless to say it was quiet on the radio with just a "10-4" response from the chief. |

Keso, you P.O.S.! Completely dumped Truex but that's okay in this series.
Larson looks like he got dumped by the Dinger. Good for Denny. Kickass burnout. Good race til the end. Turned into a bit of sh*t show. Edit: Keso takes slight credit for it... |

First time I have ever seen a destroyed racecar
from a burnout so bad it does not make it to victory lane. |

What did he do in a burnout that made his car not able to be driven to Victory lane? Did he hit a wall or something? Never heard of a car not able to be driven to VL.

front overflow hose looked like old faithful. He left it parked on the front straight and his team put tires on it and finally rolled it in to victory lane after the interviews were well over. After Danica got dumped , she also stated she could not pass anyone. Your right , it was late in the race. Plus she got a rear bumper torn off during the last red flag incident. |

They really don't have to have 3 pace car laps every time a car spins or loses a brake duct hose. By lap 80 I had lost the will to live. |

Thankfully, the IMSA Road America race was on so I wasn't too bored!

If she had just hung on to 5th at that turn her whole day would have been different, but most of the field was obsessed that this was a demolition derby. |

I certainly hope the people who moan and complain when nascar doesn't race in the rain are watching this Xfinity race at Mid-Ohio. They are sideways on the straights with rain tires and two road racing specialists were the first two to have offs.
I must admit, while the lap times are way down, its pretty fun to watch these guys go slide ways around the entire circuit. The conditions are certainly less than optimal. |

Less than optimal is an understatement, but it's been pretty good show and the booth has had fun with it as well. Pretty near constant drifts at every corner the last 10 laps. Even Andy Lally has had a struggle staying on track today.
Goodyear's rain tire seems to be so-so but it's a GREAT mud tire, only seen one car get stuck and think he broke the engine. And they're been holding the FCY like never before. |

I'm sorry, but I do not like road-racing to start with. Racing in the rain, for this series and for the Sprint Cup series in the rain, even worse -- NO THANK YOU! I just cannot get into watching them wallow around, off, beside or any other way, around a track, at pace/caution lap speed! Stock cars were not and are not designed to run in this kind of weather! This gets three HUGE from me!

I've never seen so many cars go into the sand and get out in my life. 650 HP, no traction and wet conditions should be all races. |

It reminded me of a French ice race. I don't think that I have ever seen so many cars go off a track in a race before. At least they don't explode in a shower of plastic bits when they do. After Eldora for the trucks, maybe a rallycross round for the nationals?
Back to Bristol this weekend with 1150 laps between the Modifieds, Trucks, Xfinity, and Cup. Bristol's track has had a mild rework since last time. Bristol track surface undergoes change: Jerry Caldwell, general manager at Bristol Motor Speedway, confirmed the changes to the racing surface. They include: a "polishing" of the lower racing groove, the addition of a substance that will help tire rubber adhere to the racing surface, and the running of a tire machine on the surface since the changes. The tire machine is similar to the one used at Kentucky Speedway prior to its July race. The track completed its own repaving project this season. "After the Food City 500 in the spring, we evaluated the track surface and decided to make some minor modifications to the lower racing groove," Caldwell said. "We made the changes in consultation with NASCAR and several top Cup series drivers." Among the drivers consulted were Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr. The changes were completed only this week and the Truck Series will be the first to drive on the surface when it conducts practice sessions on Aug. 17, prior to its race that night.(Motorsport / wcyb.com)(8-8-2016) |

NASCAR let them finish in a driving rain mainly to let the fans go home. Watching that gave me some Petit flashbacks. |

If they can go on dirt, they can go on the rain (as long as it isn't an oval of course) It was a great race at Mid-Ohio and all the better for there being no interminable and open ended "rain delay". It's the first Xfinity race I've seen all year although it maybe the last tho.

The work at Bristol sped the Trucks up to a track record in quali and have them hugging the bottom. Think we've got the bump n run / bull ring Bristol back. For the first 20 laps of the Truck race, at least.

Bristol had become the most popular track in the series. At one point, BEFORE smith "FIXED" it, you would have to wait a year or more to get a ticket to this race! It was GREAT! But smith couldn't leave it alone, he HAD to CHANGE it, had to have HIS way, REGARDLESS of what the fans or drivers wanted! is first repave/redesign was an ABORTION, to say the least! He RUINED the track and the racing! The drivers and ESPECIALLY, the fans HATED it! So the IDIOT, smith had to try to bring back the old (popular) Bristol. Another repave/re-configuration and though better than the ABORTION, that he had created, with his first repave/re-design, it still was NOWHERE NEAR what Bristol had been before he "FIXED" it! So now, this is the third attempt to "improve" Bristol! IF, after THREE attempts to "FIX" what was NOT broken, to start with, he MAY HAVE succeeded in getting (somewhat) back to the starting point, BEFORE he tried to "FIX" everything! Three repaves/reconfigurations, all of that money spent, to get back to the original starting point! What an ARROGANT, JERK/FOOL! |

Yep, that's a good recap R.Lee. Atlanta still
infuriates me every time I think about it . ****** On the Bristol Truck Race ******* Congrats to Ben Kennedy on his first big win. He is one of good guys and may be ready for Xfinity. France family has to be proud. I want to see what the Cup guys do late in the race before I comment on the new track config. |
