Rally Mexico is go - but not quite as planned:
http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/march...4--12-12-.html So after the spectator friendly opening stage the cars were loaded onto trucks for a long drag out to the proper stages - but got held up as the road was closed. So stages 2 and 3 are cancelled. That's the downside of dragging everything miles away from the stages for a mickey mouse stage in town. |

Reminds me of the time they had to cancel all those Argentinian stages because of fog

This is worse - fog is just one of those things - if the choppers can't fly then that's that. Having one mickey mouse stage in a city miles and miles from the real stages is just asking for trouble - it's so far they don't even drive the cars there and back, they're on a lorry. It's one of those things that's great in the organisers minds but the reality is o so different.

It was a traffic accident that halted the lorrys for six hours, quite unfortunate. Having such a stage so far away though is like you say not that smart. Drivers, media and others actually flew there.

Fair ply to WRC
If you wanted a close finish, you just had it in Mexico, the tv crews dealt with it superbly. Meeke bins it within meters of the finish, somehow misses a car lining the road as he goes off, managed to navigate his way round a gravel car park, gets back, gets a flat tyre and somehow gets to the end. The reaction of the drivers watching the screen was superb!. WRC continues to deliver this year, let's hope the trend continues!! |

Pretty incredible finish to the rally. Great to see the C3 delivering on gravel and both Meeke and Neuville with a decent result. Would be good to see the top of the table close up more, but I'm perhaps being a little demanding there: this season continues to deliver on the early promise, fingers crossed it stays this way!

Haha lol, Meeke!
Such an odd rally with so many having problems. I hope Paddon can get some luck as well and fight for the podiums. |

I'd make Power Stages count 3x towards total time.

Caught the highlights on C5 last night, the series is really on the up. Ogier's finding it not as easy this season and well done Meeke, despite nearly throwing it away, I really am happy when he does well. Looks like different events suit different cars

Do we think the clip of Paul Nagle bracing for impact saying "Jesus Kris" is going to be ingrained in rally folklore similar to Colin turning to Grist and saying "Did you like that, wee man" after the famous stage in Australia from back in the day?
That was a close run thing, very lucky not to have clipped the pair of parked cars when he first left the road. |

Apparently the Mexican event might not have gone ahead due to Trump's limiting of trade between US and Mexico, showing how he is really shaping the world

I see the gearbox has been given the all clear, so no penalty for Ogier. As much as I would hate to see any driver punished for something that was out of their hands, I must admit a part of me was hoping that they would penalize him so he would have to drive even harder to regain those points!

Citroen may have resolved the handling issues from the Monte-Carlo car specification. Shock absorbers, active diff - it may have only been some lines of code with a few errors.
https://youtu.be/tm0oc1MAk80?t=1m20s (meeke - corsica test) Breen looked quicker at his test. |

That was just the first run though. Ogier, Paddon and Meeke in the top three.
