So, Audi still knows how to win...
It's good to see them exit the series with a 1-2 victory and a hat trick for the #8. It's almost shocking after what they had shown so far this season I will miss them for sure, and maybe they will be back in a few years. But it won't be with an ICE, so for me that's definitely an end of an era. And I still think they should have stuck around for 2017. But then again, what if they have been running with a reduced budget this year, and hence the poor results (even for what they are allowed). Congrats to Mark Webber, will miss him as well. And congrats to the #2 crew on winning the title. |

I think the car was dog ugly, but it had great pace. The only thing I can critique it on was fuel efficiency (which may be down to eot) and the problem it has with front end pick up degrading it's performance.
Next year's car would be interesting to see against the upgraded TS050. Hopefully the Porsche and Toyota battle will be just as close and intense as it was this year from Spa forward. |

Many of the cars which made Audi's image ran for a few seasons. Had the latest R18 run another two years .... we might still be saying "Team X runs like Audi, almost," and the other manufacturers would be dropping out.

I rate this race a 7. There was basically no one spectating. Probably more marshalls on hand than actual ticket holders. I don't have a problem with Bahrain, but the track is kinda bland and usually so is the racing. If they are going to the mid-east, I would prefer Abu Dhabi to this, at least it has a couple unique layouts and those GT1's from a few years back had a good race. Plus it has that huge straight to let the lmp's stretch their legs.
The racing mostly came from lmp2 and somewhat in GTE, but the focus was more on Audi cruising. Understandably since it's their farewell race. This season as a whole was about a 7 or 8 imo. Le Mans, Fuji and Mexico were probably the best races with Shanghai close but not quite since Audi was out of the picture so we didn't get a 3-way battle. |

a great race and a fitting end to audi's current race programme, let us all hope it is no long before they come back, i am proud that i saw all of the audi's races at le mans and most of the spa and silverstone races.

IMO it was another boring race. Again LMP2 was the best class. Maybe I'm used to the epic races we had in the past.

Missed the last hour but got home in time for the last five minutes.
McNish telling Ulrich to go to the wall and Di Grassi getting teary eyed are what got me choked up. Last edited by seanyb505; 19 Nov 2016 at 21:11. |

Will there be coverage in this thread of the Sunday rookie/young driver/public test (I don't know what you'd call it, since most of the drivers aren't rookies to the WEC as a whole, and several teams are using this as an extra test day)?

To me the race wasn't super, the most interesting was the LMP2 again. It was very emotinal, all the tributes to Audi were beautiful and looked sincere to me. We'll miss this guys a lot. |

well, it will be very hard for any series to match Silverstone and Spa of last year. |

They can do as Kolles did this year, but it was kinda a half arsed job given that you can only truly optimize that with a new tub design.
Hence, why Porsche probably won't do anything "radical" until they design a new monocoque. |

You don't need a raised nose like Audi. Audi had a diesel which compensates for the extra downforce. Toyota and Porsche are forced to use more 'efficient' or less draggy aero. No Audi next year means they won't have to worry about that so much. Of course they'll be looking for more downforce though. But both cars will keep the same monocoque.
