The Aston looks stunning in Gulf livery. (Oh, and I see you managed to capture some rather shapely 'organic' chassis as well! ) |

Aston Martins 2009 LMP1 Car is being designed by Gordon Murray. I was asked not to say anything about the Gulf link up, the confirmation of a lola for 08, and Gordons Murrays involvement until after the Autosport show and i have respected that wish.

I didn't realise Gordan Murray had time for designing cars in between reminiscing about the F1 and endorsing the Smart Roadster : )

I take it if Aston had there own LMP1 chassis in '09, they'd still be willing to selll Aston engines for other chassis, specifically the Lola Coupe, afterall they're running this as a business.

maybe they will use the lola coupe tube and use their own bodywork courtesy or Mr Murray.

I hope the AM engine will be competative (against other petrol engines), maybe it will convince Ferrari/Maserati and Corvette to enter LMP1 or supply LMP1 engines.

Am I imagining things, or was Gordon Murray involved with drawing up the P1 evo regs with the ACO? I seem to remember reading something about him and Peter Stevens being involved in some way.

Maybe everyones had a meeting and found a compromise for current reg P1's and production engines. I'm sure Murray and Aston Martin will produce a car that has Aston charactor, similar to the BMW V12 LMR. |

Evidently on Friday when Martin Brundle was asked directly about Gordon Murray working on that particular item (overall LeMans winner) he said; No!

I presume you're quoting Malcolm's piece from dsc, in which case it was Robin Brundle (not Martin), who is the MD of Aston Martin Racing

Interesting to note in DSC's (very revealing) interview with GH-C that Aston Martin Racing will run the Charouz Lola (unless I've misunderstood what was being implied). It sounds like a full on factory effort to me, especially bearing in mind that Team Jota will apparently only be responsible for running the '07 car.

Tell me someone if im just being dumb here, but if what Bentley03 is saying is true would it not just make more sense for Aston Martin to buy a Lola and run the car via Prodrive rather than going to a independent team and working in conjunction with them?
