Some interesting snippets on Mclarens potential 2017 popularity going around this weekend:
Firstly, I saw on DSC I think it was, that one existing team is looking at a pair of 650s GT3s for '17. I assume this would be in addition to the factory effort. Secondly, there has been substantial interest in the 570s GT4 for not only British GT, and Euro GT4, but also in the U.S. I imagine the running of the Tekno 570s GT4 in the '17 B12hr will help interest that side of the world too, although there is currently limited running grounds for GT4 in Asia and Aus. KPAX Flying Lizards have already said they are evaluating a 570s GT4 for PWC GTS in addition to their current stable of GT3s. And finally, S365's WEC COTA post race notebook just revealed Strakka are evaluating a potential pair of 650s GT3's for a run in Blancpain. End of Prototype racing for Strakka perhaps? Love to see a 650s in Strakka colours!!! The article did state a ELMs and WEC return is still possible. Anyway, some interesting rumours, seems McLaren are finally gaining some interest in customer programs possibly for 2017. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

McLaren Sportscars
Since the previous post, CJ Wilson has confirmed multiple 570s GT4's for PWC GTS in 2017 run by Flying Lizards, as well as a single car for Klenin Performance Racing.
So 2-3 Lizards cars, 1 KPR car, 1 Tekno car, likely 1 car for Ecurie Ecosse. Already a good deal for McLaren who have always struggled to get many customers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think a few of those are duplicates -
- Garage 59 Racing - McLaren 650s GT3 - Blancpain #58 - Martin Plowman / Shane Van Gisbergen - Garage 59 Racing - McLaren 650s GT3 - Blancpain #59 - Alex Fontana / Andrew Watson - Garage 59 Racing - McLaren 650s GT3 - GT Open #88 - Alex West / Come Ledogar - Garage 59 Racing - McLaren 650s GT3 - GT Open #?? - Michael Benham / Duncan Tappy - Garage 59 Racing - McLaren 650s GT3 - Spa 24h car #60 - Pipo Derani / Brunno Senna This might be just 3 cars, with the #60 being a spare that was built up? Audi are at a ridiculous 200 Audi R8s! |

Strakka are switching from WEC to Blancpain with 4 650S GT3s next year. Quite a commitment.

Four McLarens? Are they in addition to the Garage59 entries or will they be replaced? Nevertheless a good addition. Maybe it's better than running a lone LMP2 in the WEC.

Almost certainly replaces Garage 59, they're already talking about the young works drivers having one of the cars. I would expect most of the G59 crew will be working there too. Wonder if they'll make an appearance anywhere else, such as British GT.

I have the feeling that it will look much better in GT3 trim.

The 650S is a hard act to follow. Not real taken with the 720s production model, but they are about due for a new model.

I like the way it looks. Hope the GT3 (and please GTE) model is as good as the 650!

The styling of the 720S is certainly 'challenging'.
Although those artists' impression pictures make it look better as they make the headlight lens visible rather than it appearing as a gaping black hole. |

Now paint it red, add some Rust-Eze stickers, a number 95 and some big googly eyes.. "Cars 4, Lighting McQueen challenges Europe"

A pretty solid factory driver line up this year:
Factory guns: Alvaro Parente; Rob Bell; Come Ledogar; Dean Stoneman Johnny Kane Academy Drivers: Andrew Watson; Jazeman Jaafar; Ben Barnicoat; Loris Hezemans; David Fumanelli; Sandy Mitchell; Ciaran Haggarty; Dean Macdonald; Akihito Rabindra That's a statement of intent for the future I'd say, all those single seater converts, looks like they are building a team for a GTE run in 2-3 years, give them a few years in GT3 as prep to pull out potential GTE guns |

Bit of a thought to ponder here.
Zak Brown said McLaren were considering GTE a while back McLaren just decided to move GT production in house Factory guns Rob Bell, and Alvaro Parente are again racing in GT Am, a fine opportunity to get more of an idea of the series and LM Garage 59 are running in the support road to Le Mans race, with none over than Chris Goodwin, Mclarens lead GT development and test driver. Is it me or is all starting to point towards some low level research into a GTE entry Love it to be in 2018 but realistically 2019? |

What do you think about this McLaren 675lt tested yesterday in Nurburgring?
In the note bet by a new GT3 variant to me does not seem so, I find the rear diffuser very small to be a GT3. https://www.motor1.com/news/181039/m...ace-car-spied/ |

Could be GT4 or single-make series. My thought also was that the non-existent rear diffuser means no GT3, GTE.

Realistically anything going forward would be based on the 570 or 720 and the 675LT is not the latest model so I don't see why they would build something off unless it a mule of some kind.
