This would make 3 GSR Sierras unless it was one of the above? |

Mr Tweedie bought his turbo Sierra directly from GSR, as did Mr Ellery purchase his ST spec non-turbo Sierra....
Perhaps there were 3 cars... we never saw more than 2 of them on the track at the same time.... |

People state that the GPA/V8SC Chassis' get weak after a period of time, and start to flex too much.
Seriously, some of these Sierra's that were built at the start of 87, or end of 86, would have had a very long, hard winder life! Did the GPA cars, which should have been more a stock chassis, ever suffer from this? |

For a good picture of Mr Towe's ex-JPS M3, look at today's Daily Telegraph!
On the last page of the "Cars Guide" section of the paper, the pretty little Bimmer, and Adam Proctor's Nissan Primera are there in full colour, for all to see Now if the AMRS mob can get pics in the paper, why not Supercar?? |

Maybe the newspapers don't like TC. It's not as though TC gets coverage for any of his other ventures, or appears in the business section of these papers.

David Towe, I have found some pictures of BMW car 53 from Bathurst 1988.
These pictures are on page 200 & 213 of 'The Great Race' 1988 book. From the pictures, it appears that the M3 was entered by Gould Motorsport and was driven by T.Crowe / Peter Janson to a remarkable 4th outright. The car has black paintwork with 'Cardinal Network' signage down each side & a Bundaberg Rum sticker on the bonnet (Jansons' contribution,no doubt!) There are no side on shots of the car so I can't see where the air jacks are, but it has a single w/screen wiper & is LHD. J.Sax was cross entered in this car,as well as car 54 which appears on page 130.Car 54 has the air jacks directly behind the rear wheels and has a paint scheme similar to the Dulux Autocolour scheme. This car retired after crashing at 'Skyline' into the sand trap. Hope this helps your search for the cars history. |

The Perkins VK has been restored and has run a couple of race meetings in Tassie. It is missing a couple of bits to get its Cof D for Historic Racing ( Getrag gearbox, rear brakes and fuel tank)
The car will be at the Clipsall for the Demonstration runs, I'll try and load a pic on soon |

Grp C/Grp A/V8SC 'Where are they now?' continued...
I couldn't find the original thread so here's a new one....
Anyone know the whereabouts of some of the class B (then 2000cc-3500cc) & class C (0-2000cc) cars? Cars like the various Grp A Toyota Corolla/Sprinter/Levin coupe/liftback/hatch fwd/rwd (there were heaps of them!! I think Bob Holden may still have his old girl (the first GP A sprinter ever buit!) |

Where to start ....
Any historic meeting which runs a Group C / Invited Group A race will have a few class cars competing - Celicas, Alfas, Escorts, Dolomite Sprints etc. They're out there. I could bore you with Alfa Romeo Group C and A survivors, but then again ... (Lets just say there are more Group A survivors than Group C.) |

The Bob Holden Sprinter went to South Australia as a rally car. It's now doing hard yards as a school car at The Rally Experience. It's pretty-well buggered. Bob still has an Escort Group C car, though, which has appeared recently.
Mike Minear's Volvo 360 had exactly the same fate as the Sprinter; the rally school sold it a few years ago because it was a basket case. For a lot of the old Group C and A cars, look at Australian Muscle Car magazine. Kramer |

There was more than one Bob Holden Sprinter. The one the went to Europe and continued racing into the Super Touring era is now run by the O'Biernes in Queensland as an Improved Production Car I think.
One of Malcolm Reas Sprinters became a rally car, is that the one you mean? Wardys Mercs went to the US to Martin Stretton and are in the UK now I think. All those Bimmers! There were so many JPS M3s, at least six, two became art cars and returned to Germany. John Cotter still has his two right? David Towe has one. Then there are the Longhurst era M3s, around half of whcich were converted to STs. One returned to Queensland and disappeared. The two FX-GT Corollas were with Colin Bond or Neal Bates right? are they still there? The Nissan Gazelle went to a Queensland privateer and disappeared. Bagnalls Escort presumably returned to NZ. Brad Stratton still has his Corolla I think, and Frank Binding too maybe. |

The Longhurst B&H cars are now, one in the UK with Kevin Underwood (the Denny Hulme death car) and a mate of mine here in Sydney owns the last car to have been built which is the car that Cameron McLean used to win the National Sports Sedan title. It will be at the Touring Car Festival at Oran Park on the 24th of April with both of mine and many other great old Touring Cars. Cheers David |

The McLean M3 was then either owned or co owned by Peter Jones.
Anyone know what happened to the two TRD Corolla coupes? The last time I saw one was in the paddock of the '91 Bathurst, & it had some bits missing.... I must dig up those old photos.... BTW, thanks for the email, ART.... |

What happened to the Toyota Team Australia Toyota Supra, last seen from memory with the John Smith run Mercentile Mutual Toyota Dealer Team at Bathurst 1991.
Peter Williamson's Group C Toyota Celica's? And at that what ever happened to 'that rotten Volvo' from bathurst 1979 Abit off topic also, but i'd be hard pressed to get an answer on the rally forum, but what became of Colin Bond's Triumph TR7 V8? |

Some of Willos Sillycars are in action in Group C but in subsequant colour schemes. Notably the Graeme Bailey ex-Williamson car has been racing frequently since the demise of Group C.

John Smith had a grey 2 door FX corolla he was using as a road car for a while. Not sure if it was one of the old race cars but it had a 4AGZE in it. He had alot of old TRD race parts for the Corolla in the workshop too.
The Supra was at one stage sitting in the workshop of Fergusens Toyota in Hurstville where Smith was the Manager (The 2nd hand yard). Have a feeling that it may have seen the track a year or two back. One of the Bargwanna Kiddies could have been driving it as he worked there at one stage. |
