Hornung (the race director) said in an interview on the German stream that they might have a chance to start around 2-2:15 pm local time.

Information from the race management:
The 10-minute sign will be shown at 1:20 p.m. Five formation laps will then begin at 1:30 p.m. This means that at least all drivers have the opportunity to complete the minimum number of laps. If it clears up during these five laps, the race will then be allowed to begin. Otherwise, the race will be waved off. |

Those formation laps will be 20 minutes each at least, so we could have racing from as early as ~1:50pm (2h 10min left), or as late as ~3:10pm (50 minutes left), if at all.

I cannot see this going anywhere, it is still as bad as earlier, I wish we could just put it on hold and carry on tomorrow but it might be the same!!
I dont like pace car finishes but that is all I can see, a bit pointless really, maybe just a way of making sure they dont have to give money back to people who went only today, |

#98, #15, #54, #24 all pit for tyres and fuel. Those will be the first of the final stops for the race.

Seems like a bad decision to pit, especially with the uncertainty of a restart.

One more lap to go ...
more SP9 cars have pitted; #1, #3, #4, #44 amongst others. Edit - Celebrations in the Phoenix garage, looks like the race has been called for #16. Last edited by J Jay; 2 Jun 2024 at 12:52. |

Interestingly out of the last 12 editions, 6 were red flagged due to bad weather - 2013, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021 and now 2024
This is now an element of the race and no longer a freak occurence. But not sure what to do about it - the climate is always like this in the area, the lenght of the track means weather is not homogenous across the entire length and due to the big altitude differences , it is difficult to disperese the fog from across the entire track The 7 and a half hours of racing we got were great! |

Hopefully a late June date next year will mean less disruption. I know the 2020 race was in September, but otherwise the other red flagged races were in mid-May/early June. Coulda July date work?
Otherwise, part of what makes the circuit so great also contributes to these issues, particularly fog. More cameras/marshals might help with visibility on the ground, but there's little that can be done about the flying conditions being unsafe. |
