Here is the reply I got from DJR regards the sierra pic:
Hi Doug, The car in the photo you have sent to us is being displayed in our merchandise tent at Amaroo Park in 1988. It is a Left Hand Drive car, so was the car used by the team as #18 (driven by Gregg Hansford) in the 1987 series. The team took this car over to New Zealand for the races at Wellington and Pukekohe in late 87/early 88, where it ran with DDB Needham sponsorship (In place of the Shell Ultra Hi logo on the side of the car). The small Shell logo on the back of the rear guard was in this place for the NZ event. when the car returned from NZ, it became the team's spare car and show car for 1988. The Needham Logos were removed, and the team quickly put a small Shell Ultra Hi logo on in its place, this is why it doesnt appear as the race cars ran in the 1988 ATCC. Also, the banner across the windscreen also only says 'Johnson' as opposed to 'Dick Johnson' like the ATCC cars had that year. In short, the team just changed the car back to Shell signage as quickly as possible for the season, so the spare/show car did not appear exactly the same as the race cars used by Dick and John Bowe in 1988. I hope this answers your enquiry! Any more questions please feel free to contact us. |

Might have been a Bowe car, hence the Tasmanian location of it? May be related in some way? |

great pics Group'C'
There are a few b&w pics of the car in the Chequered Flag magazine report of the race, however all are from before its accident How good was the STP livery! On another note.. at the Oran Park historics the #46 Schnitzer M3 from Bathurst '87 was in attendance (this car may have come up before from memory), who is the current owner and whats its story (i presume it is the shell that got crashed during practice, and stayed at the Bathurst museum for years afterwards)? |

[QUOTE=racer69;2491803]great pics Group'C'
How good was the STP livery! you should have seen what the advertising company had in mind , it had more stripes and colour changes than could be imagined, would have been a blur on the TV so between John McCarthy, myself and the painters we came up with that, pretty basic and to the point but looked good. Remember that the car was already painted in it's Roadways yellow and white when the STP sponsorship came along as can be seen when you look at any pics when it was crashed the yellow was under all the flares Would have been better if STP had paid! Not sure what you mean here Camaroz |

My recollection is that Ian Harrington had to take STP (or the Distributors) to court for payment. I'm not sure if he was successful? |

The M3 wound up in WA rebuilt as a club car. Bill did a wonderful job of restoring it, but had a bad weekend with two or three touches resulting in spoiler, guard and bonnet damage. Binding in the widest XD Falcon won two of the races and I managed to get the other one. Binding's car was so wide this weekend, my team have renamed the model as an XXXD not just an XD.
It was a fairly poor meeting with some silly delays, but big cheers for ALL who worked there to overcome these problems to get us racing. |

V8 Touring Car Chassis
I am trying to work out which cars were/are being used in the 08 and 09 Shannon’s V8 Touring Car series. As per the rules for this series, all must have been registered as V8 Supercars, so no new builds are permitted. All the info is at: www.v8touringcars.com
I think I have these correct: • 15 Steve Ingwersen Model: VS Built: Sep 01: ex R Searle • 26 John Vergotis AU: ex Glenn Seton Racing but not sure which one • 38 Ben Ecceleston VX PE033 Mar 99: ex D McDougall ex W Gardner • 39 Chris Smerdon AU SBRAU6 Oct 02: ex G Ritter ex B Tilley ex M Winterbottom ex D Besnard • 49 Terry Wyhoon AU SBRAU3 Feb 00: ex K Mundy ex D Besnard ex T Longhurst • 50 Mark Shepherd AU SBRAU4 Mar 01: ex D Neville ex P Scifleet ex M Zukanovic ex T Wanless ex M Ambrose • 62 Adam Wallis VX PE037 Sep 00: ex T D’Alberto ex M Porter ex P Dumbrell ex R Ingall ex L Perkins • 68 Jonathon Beikhoff AU Sep 00: ex C Bastian ex R Salmon • 98 Darren Formosa / Steve Owen VX one of the ex Mike Imrie cars But I cannot identify the following: • 13 Peter McNiven VX • 18 Leigh Moran EL • 31 Paul Stubber VX, presumably ex Perkins as it is painted in Castrol 2001/02 livery |

Chassis No PE 038.
I believe it was purchased direct from Perkins by the HiTrans team and then purchased by Paul Stubber to give Clayton Pyne a run in the Fujutsi series. It sat idle last year and then underwent a thorough freshen up prior to getting a run in the Shannons Touring Car Series. |
