When can the extra power be deployed? That article just says that the system can only be used when at "full traction", which is a bit wooly. I thought there was a minimum speed to deploy but I can't recall?

Cosworth says:

"The only constraint that we plan to have on the deployment of the system is a minimum vehicle speed to avoid some cars using it while others are still traction-limited. Beyond that, it will be up to the teams. It could be completely
controlled by the button on the steering wheel or it could be pre-set to provide assistance under certain conditions."

I assume they have determined from the cars previously where their traction limits are, and have factored this into the minimum speed mark.

3rd gear, 120kph with full traction. Mash the button earlier and it locks out for 2secs.

@crmalcolm - what is the min weight and power for the cars? That might be a more useful metric to show the difference between the +70kg for a winner vs -15s of boost

I presume that's to stop the RWD cars from being able to jump cars out of hairpins etc?

In the main yes. The more power you can put down at lower speed, the greater the advantage it gives in acceleration.
So limiting the use until all cars can apply the additional power makes sense.

Could only be Team Hard, couldn't it? Hard to watch!! And they couldn't find a better backdrop than a dark corner of a warehouse!

As for the livery, bright colours get a plus, but it looks like something a four year old has put together.

The livery certainly wouldn't have been my choice - nor even the video reveal - but it will probably stand out amongst the corporate sameness that runs through pretty well all the grid. And I am guessing that his backers will be pleased with the promotion of their brands.

Plenty of people seem to enjoy the reveal, and most seem to accept that it is just a bit of fun.

Doesn't seem to be doing anyone any harm - so fair play to them all for it.

I wasn't knocking it; all I said is that, being an old fart, it probably wasn't aimed at me.

At first glance I thought it was last year's Hyundai livery on a different car.

Apologies if my post seemed like I thought you were knocking it. I was actually agreeing with your comment about 'it will probably stand out amongst the corporate sameness'

It’s a valid criticism though. Black cars are harder to make out at a glance than brighter, blocky colours, especially in a sea of other black cars.

Edit - I understand WHY it happens. It only works if your title sponsor has an obvious corporate colour and a big enough bag of cash blah blah….

Really?

I mean I get it's silver stripes on a black background but if they hadn't said I would never have guessed, and even after they said it I'm still struggling to see it.
