Good close racing with the Group A & C cars at Lakeside on Sunday - great to see! On another subject - what about the "sunday driver" who put his BF GT Cobra (road car) into the wall (almost through the armco) under the bridge during the Shannons parade laps |

John Sidney Racing received their ex Seton Falcon at the beginning of 96, Emerzides in July / August 98. At this stage the John Sidney car was being driven by Anthony Tratt.

I met Mr Emerzides again at a boat show last year, and we had a good old laugh about me remembering the crash he had coming onto the straight at QR in the rain in '99..

I know it is slightly off topic, but this ad suggests that this V8 astra is 5 seconds min faster than a v8 supercar...

It is about $10k overpriced. You could run it in Combined Touring in NSW and get beaten by this http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=13132 that is brand new built with nothing to spend. Or you could race it in Improved production and need to spend the asking price again to make it competitive.

Looked pretty, but from memory didnt go too fast. But then very few of the private teams of the era were interested in outright pace, more in tune with being out there, competing against who they considered equals, racing against their self-set benchmark laptimes, slogging through to the finish. Interesting the specification differences between the various Falcons in the field, that the upgrades allowed by various CAMS homologations were not mandatory, that cars such as the one above, ran the original spec wheels and tyres, as well as brakes, as the budget allowed... ... while the DJR Fords always had whatever the rule updates allowed almost immediately... This was an ex-DJR shell, with running gear sourced from elsewhere, as the 'good bits' were ratted by DJR for inclusion in the replacement body shell. It was a simpler time then of course... But must make ensuring a period car is 'genuine' with all the 'real' bits on it, something of a minefield.... |
