-Translation-
Toyota : to the Le Mans participation by the hybrid car … The test run beginning. It turned out that Toyota aimed at participation in "24 Heures du Mans" in the hybrid car, and they had begun the test run with the machine for actual Le Mans. The person related to Toyota clarified it. They want to participate aiming at the victory in 2010. The development of the machine for Le Mans was advanced on the scale of tens of people, and a hybrid device was built into a pure racing car made of the other companies to participate in Le Mans until last year(Dome S101.5?) and the test run was begun now. Head Toyota commented that there was a big charm in the appeal for the excellence of the hybrid though it had not been becoming a participation decision because it was a stage where realizability was verified now. |

Thread bump. ACO press announcement should be on Saturday.
Or actually "The broad technical lines of the 2011 rules will be communicated around 15th November 2008". Maybe already tomorrow. Last edited by deggis; 13 Nov 2008 at 15:11. |

At least FIA WMSC meetings are usually in early December, so I doubt there is anything final to say.

ALMS has to follow up on the ACO rules, otherwise will end up with 2 different sports car classes!, and that wouldn't be good for the Sportscar world!

IMSA ( ALMS ) and ACO rules are slightly different. Most of the rules are 'IN THE SPIRIT OF' the ACO rules.

But modifying larger things like wings would, I'm sure, lead to the ACO removing any automatic invites from PLM or championship for cars that run with the "IMSA-rules" rear wing. They already did that for the IMSA modified rules for the LMP2 cars last season, so would IMSA risk the automatic invites to run the wider wing? I'm thinking something like that is doubtful, especially if Audi will run in the ALMS. No point in running all season with the old wing if you will have to switch to a narrower one for LM and that seems to be their bigger desire every year.

I have a suspicion that right now, the IMSA will do anything it takes to get cars on the grid, and a certain race in France does not mean much.

2011 engine regs:
http://www.lemans.org/sport/sport/ac...D_3610_gb.html http://www.lemans.org/sport/sport/re...hybride_gb.pdf Goodbye (NA) variety then. ps. That PDF actually says "3-4 litre" but it's obviously a mistake and supposed to say "3.4-litre"? |

I'll grant there will be a few variances, but on the whole, the ACO and IMSA/ALMS rules will look the same.

May be the Base performance goal would be from the 3.4-Liter NA and the restrictor table (page 24) is to adjust up or down on performance to the Base 3.4-Liter ??

"Hybrid systems aimed at reducing fuel consumption (free development in compliance with precise rules). " not increasing HP. Now that 520 hp, is that 520 BHP or Rear Wheel Horse Power ?? Which dyno system will be used to measure? Will the ACO use the SAE standards to measure HP, which I hope they do. |
