Nissan have talked about the DTM a few times, no concrete intentions though.

On the DTM thing, the racing's not been excellent recently, the cars are too reliant on aero. I don't care if there's a bazillion manufacturers in there, if the racing is poo, its poo.

Suppossedly the new regs will change all of that, but we'll have to wait another 18 months until we find out for sure.

It's not rocket science, but you would think Ratel would schedule a U.S. round when the ALMS takes their extended break from May - July. |

I thought DTM was going to be using SuperGT rules, and then Toyota Nissan and Honda join in? With the future regs it seems to be BMW marking the way, and they want to use the M3, which will no longer be sold in 4-door trim, so the cars will all be based off of coupes. Seeing as how the GTR is in SuperGT, and the SC430, it would appear it'll be just that. With Mercedes now making a coupe Version of it's C-class as well, only one left is Audi, S5 anyone? How this ties into FIA GT1 I have no clue. But I'd like to see an LFAGT1 or R8GT1

They say there will be no Russian FIA GT1 round in 2011, but a FIA GT3 one at Smolensk.

Hegersport Maserati only 30% certain to compete next year!
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88633 Matech, as we know, is being pulled apart. Only Matech Concepts will remain. |

That's a shame. Hopefully they'll still develop the customer GT2 version of the car for the Le Mans 24hrs.

I will miss Matech. That Ford GT was a thing of beauty.
The calendar gets annouced tomorrow. What we are aware of so far is that Abu Dhabi and Mongolia are on it, and the USA and Russia are not on it, but Ratel is still trying to get the latter countries on the calendar for 2012. |

Hegersport have switched there focus to ADAC GT Masters for 2011 with a pair of GT3 R's so i think its safe to say there gone too, Marc VDS are unlikely to return and Reiter have made there displeasure about the way the series was run this year apparent, looks like this series may die off sooner than i expected.

The magazine article also says Phoenix and Selleslagh (half of Mad-Crock) aren't confident of finding funding to continue in 2011.

That doesn't look too good, half of the teams could be leaving...
So if it's not the racing that will kill this series, it will be the money. |

Much will depend on Vitaphone, they are the one constant and if they start looking elsewhere that could destabalise the series.
Ratel has invested a lot of time and money into the GT1 series but he has his GT3/4 empire to fall back on. This could make his decision to cut his losses with GT1 that much easier. Last edited by JAG; 9 Dec 2010 at 23:18. |

I see GT1 staying. Possible teams from GT3 could make their way forward. The R8's aren't far off of GT1 standard anyway. Give em some different body panels and less restriction, they can be in GT1 next year if need be. At least with GT1 you can actually see every race live, and if you miss that, watch it on they site. I hope GT1 stays afloat, and I bet it will.
