Part of me still thinks itd be nice to see GT3 + GT2 + GT4 SprintX combined, like British GT... Maybe it was how open VIR is, but the grids all felt thoroughly sparse

Id like to see GT3 and GT4 Sprint X togehter, and keep GT4 Sprint as the standalone

How does British GT do with the combined grid? Closing speeds aren't too crazy and not too much crazy corner speed problems? Sadly I'm guessing it wouldn't work if you add prototype to the mix though when GTLM crashes

British GT does great with mixed grids, 18+ GT3, 15+ GT4, all give each other fair room and allowances. Sure you get the occasional tangle but that is minimal, and the value of the GT3 guys having to judge traffic well adds to the excitement of the racing.

I dont see why GTWC America wouldnt benefit from that format for the short term, until they can be more confident in grid sizes post covid

I'm for it as well if needed. My gut tells me SRO America will make a few changes to the format and gauge grid size to try to keep GT3 standalone and both GT4 series standalone. I could see the GT4 guys getting upset they would no longer be the main show, but there are two GT4 championships to race in now...

2014 when GT3/GTS ran together was awesome and the few races they ran combined in 2018 were really fun as well...

I’ve honestly found GTWC America this year incredibly dull.

Grid size on big circuits becomes so noticeable.

22 cars at Oulton Park in British GT is enough at a tight little circuit and multi class helps too.

But single digit GT3 cars going for 90 mins, just becomes tedious.

I hate to sound so down on the series, I remember doing St Pete’s back when it was PWC with the always elvolving nissans (what year was that?), and the series was fantastic then. Where did it all fizzle out?

I still think merging GT4 sprint with GT3/GT2, knocking back to 50-60 min races, allow single drivers or double driver pairings, no full pro, pit stop for driver change, maybe wheels, and you’d be onto something. Covid area grids would be around 20, which is light enough to allow space for GT3s to pass GT4 traffic without crashing everytime. Feels so logical?

Look for some of these to be implemented and others to at least be reconsidered for 2021
