RWDPAUL should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Oh hi Mike , I have seen some of your post in the forum , Top man for your reply to my questions etc . Yes I totally understand and agree with you , building something like this is a nightmare . The main reason why I've chucked a load of questions out there faily quick is it can cut down the amount of messages of what I intend to do although you can't beat a good old technical talk . That's good to know about Ben , I spanner for a guy who's doing Cadwell this year and it's not a million miles from me so I'll keep my eye out . Having said that I'm not the type of guy that would expect to just go up to him on a race weekend and start picking his brains as I don't think it's polite
I'll maybe meet a scrutineer there too . Yeah everything is a bit of a grey area with regs isn't it . My idea was that if the cage was bespoke and not an SD I would get some photos of the original cage ,if it looks a half decent design ( though I'm not expecting much from a car of that era ) do a cad drawing and send it to the fia for structural analysis . Then if it complys to the load test the cage design will get its own certificate . If not just add some additional bracing to the cad drawing till it passed . I'm doing that for my lads e36 M3 gtr with a space-frame back end . Race and rally regs can not always be the same as far as I know depending what series your running it's only when you get to international and fia regs that it gets a bit tricky . Eye the old suspension pick up points on the front struts won't be getting done unless the zakspeed cars had them and can prove it . Hey it's all good stuff isn't it . I'd like to keep the boot floor anyway as the shell still has the bolts braised into the floor . Well mike many thanks for your offer I may take you up on that one day . What have you done to yours regarding zakspeed mods ?

Hi all ,
nice to meet you , i m Cedric from Belgium , i m a big fan of Mk1 escort , first i m sorry i m not native English speaker so i do my best

I ve read previous posts of this Topic and feel it verry intersting about track period cars .
Maybe you can help me too , i search information about my car that had raced a long time ago .
I ve worked on the car and i have found some information , i dont know who build the car ( Alan man , Broadspeed , Zakspeed , … or someone else off course )
I ve found the car in South of Germany , so probably lived in these area ( North italy , germany , east countries, .. )
LHD car , probably a 1300 GT or TC shell but maybe modified for FVA // FVC engine , and gold painted , there are some specifical parts and modifications on the shell; i dont know if it s better to open a new topic with pictures but maybe some one could already help me ?

I also have another question :
some vin number used by broadspeed are special i think

as you can see here
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car...rt/1972/687131
maybe only for export broadspeed ?

or

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/182...?category=list

I also have a " special number" on my shell

Thanks a lot ,
maybe i ll make a different post if some people can help me

kind regards

Hello , nice to meet you , im cedric from Belgium and have lot of interest in escort mk1 .i m not English native speaker so i ll do my best

i ve read all topic and found it very intersting.

i search information about my mk1 escort that raced in past
I dont know who build it ( Broadspeed, zakspeed , … someone else probably)
i ve found the car in South of germany so the car maybe cames from germany , or italy , or north or east countries ?

I ve made a little work on the car and really seems to be a 1300 gt or TC shell ; due to rear suspensions etc , with good work on it.

i could post pictures but is it easier in a new topic ?

My car was gold , Left Hand Drive and engine bay look to be made for a FVA or Fvc Engine , so maybe someone has any idea who used or build such a car ?

I ve saw that broadspeed shells seems to have a " special vin number"
(you can see that in these links )

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/182...?category=list

Do you know why ? my shell has a special number too but i dont know what does it mean especially

Kind regards

Hello,
quite an old thread. I have collected some information over the Wooding Minis & Escorts incl. some rare photos.
It's all German I'am afraid but the photos are internationally understood.
