So I haven't been following the off-season at all and now after looking at the entry list for this season, I have one question. What happened to Mr. Chaves? No one picked him up after a decent rookie season?

It was very late when Herta shut the doors down and join Andretti. So no seat for Chaves and all other places were filled (all but the 2nd Dale Coyne seat).

Not the first time in IndyCar recently.

I'm a bit late to the silver/gold discussion but let's not forget Sebastien Bourdais' McAfee livery in 2013, which I think looked pretty good:

Agree that the Rebellion gold/white/red livery posted above looked excellent.

Any truth in the rumour that Maldonado is doing the rest of the road and street courses in Carpenter's car?

The McAfee livery was chrome. The Penske liveries are matte. Big difference.

I suppose this is a bit off topic now, but have a gold Porsche to complete the set of shiny liveries:

Yeah, it's strange because they've been there since the team began (in 2011), and the TV ratings have gone up.

I feel cheated. We just got a boring blue-and-white TrueCar livery in Toronto that year. :P

I respect Tagliani's career, same as Serviá. But they are old. Hey, Pippa Mann is 32!

I think that it would be better to get younger (or less old) drivers, like Chaves, Huertas, Saavedra, Harvey, Vautier and De Silvestro.

Karam and Clauson are confirmed for the 500, fortunately.

As hinted by some earlier, pit lane in Toronto has been modified as a result of the new hotel on the Exhibition Grounds.

However... not sure anybody saw this coming. It's on the other side of the track(!).

Yes indeed. And I can't quite figure out how pit in will work - straight off turn 9. There's also the bridge to contend with, which might block visibility up and down pit lane a bit. Will be very interesting to see "in the flesh".

It's basically what I was attempting to describe back in post 3034. It was the most realistic option that did not involve major changes to the actual track layout.

If you look at the street view of the inside of turn nine, there are trees, a fire hydrant, small lawn, curb and sidewalk that could possibly be moved to allow for a better pit entrance.

I suppose we'll have to wait until the race weekend to see the final results, but the main turn 11 grandstand looks like it will be an improvement over recent years when it has been too far back from the race track. It should now be closer and could allow a better unblocked (or less blocked) view of the turn, with the hospitality suites on the opposite side of track moved back because of the pit lane now being on their side.

Is the new hotel going to be closed every year during the race weekend? It appears to have no access for vehicles.
