He didn’t, for the reasons you said.

Excuses not needed from either. I was just clarifying which race it was.

He doesn’t need an excuse to race in a cool series like WEC.

It’s not looking at consistency, just each drivers fastest lap from each of the races this year, but he is consistently towards the bottom.
Monza. Slowest FL.
Le Mans. Second slowest (Yount)
Spa. Slowest.
Portimao. Third slowest.
Sebring. Second slowest.

Often a decent gap to the next driver too.

He gets to do a lot of laps and I bet is having a ball.

Inevitable, as Lopez was 'demoted' to GT3, that Nyck will be given the opportunity to translate some of those open wheel skills (Formula1,Formula E).

I do think it was inevitable. I'm also glad it happened this way, as I'm not sure where they would have channeled Pechito if they have put Nyck in the car this year as they had originally intended (prior to his F1 call up).

I do hope that Nyck will fare far better than in his tenure at Alpha Tauri as I would hate to see the 7 car hamstrung. Would have liked to see Lopez add a second Le Mans win to his CV before a move but wouldn't it be something if he did in LM GT3?

If there was any driver to be let go from the current lineups, Lopez would be the first choice for consistency (his pace is fine). But I wouldn't want one of my core drivers taking a wealth of information/advice to a rival manufacturer if I were in charge.

I guess things have calmed somewhat now?

Aside from GR010 Reserve duties, Miyata will be in F2 and have an ELMS Season at COOL Racing

Quote:
Miyata is the second Toyota-linked driver in two years to join Cool Racing’s ranks in ELMS competition, after Jose Maria Lopez raced alongside Reshad de Gerus and Vlad Lomko this past season.
“We are thrilled to continue this relationship and we’d like to thank Toyota Gazoo Racing for the confidence they put in our team” said team co-founder Nicolas Lapierre.
“Ritomo has shown his speed in all of the series in which he has competed, with many successes and championship titles. It’s up to us to help support him so that it’s also the case in ELMS, a new championship for him.

It's still a topic that is not approached; you hear nothing about Lapierre's time at Toyota compared to Davidson or other drivers Toyota let go.

As for Miyata, his Hirakawa arc begins in earnest. Good luck to him.

Great to see that third car coming to fruition! The other drivers will be very interesting to see - particularly if Wadoux makes the jump or not.

Good to see that the driver market has strong pickens, and some great lineups for the new protos debuting next year.

Would rather see Vanwall (Curious to see how they would have gone with a new engine) than a third "Factory" Ferrari tbh, but it is what it is. Although the possibility of Pin or Lilo is a hyper car (probably not next year) is quite appealing.

It would be a real fillet for women in sportscars, while being a relatively strong trio regardless.
