Did I miss the announcement for Shanghai's inclusion in AsLMS, or has Peugeot blown the lid on this one?

Not surprised to see Loeb not making the team, I don't think he's quick enough in a road car to be on this squad.
New livery looks nice, the front aero looks pretty much unchanged compared to Le Mans - Would love to see a shot of the rear end. |

Loeb is not included because of his more than busy schedule driving and developing his Citroen in the WRC, NOT because he´s not fast enough! I´d say Loeb is horribly quick in a roadcar - just ask the Gendarmerie, his pace in a racecar is just fine with me!

I don't agree, he was way off the pace during his F1 test and the 908 requires a good open-wheel driver to be really quick with it.
He wasn't terribly quick in the Pescarolo either and his schedule was known beforehand..so if that would have been the reason, he would have been no option from the start. |

Loeb's schedule was not certainly not the problem.
It's been said many times earlier that there was no conflict in his schedule to compete at Le Mans. |

I can see Jim Roller's eyes rolling to the heavens as I ask this (!), but why exactly? So is Christian Neilk still on the Peugeot roster then......? |

Because many Peugeot drivers have commented on how the car behaves a lot like an open-wheeler.
Take a look at their current squad, pretty much all of their drivers have extensive experience with Formula One cars or other high-power open-wheelers like Champ Car. Do you think that's a coincidence? |

To prolong last year's very extensive RLM argument, no, it's not coincidence that ex-F1 drivers are hired to race sportscars (that is of course the choice of those who hire them), but the likes of McNish, Capello and Kristensen prove that (recent) open-wheel experience isn't necessary to pedal a modern sportscar very fast....
But it's not an argument I necessarily want to take any further - I heard more than enough of it during Le Mans last year. I guess I just rankle slightly at what seem to be sweeping generalities! Last edited by Aysedasi; 22 Feb 2010 at 22:27. |

Wasn't McNish also pulled in from a F1 career? |

Sportscar drivers come from all over the place. Look at Werner and Biela. The only single seater experience they have is Formula Fords, or Formula 3s, etc, and frankfully, that's how most youngsters used to get their way into motorsports.
There's no real pattern. Car livery looks really nice. A lot more closer to the brand colors it seems than before. |
