Great pix Racing Fxgt - should these 2 be in the 60s thread!?
The Cortina of Chris Craft is 1965 I think and the Galaxie is I believe the red car of Harvey-Baillie(?) - is that Clark in the Cortina? But his helmet seems too light for a dark blue/black with large white peak. Peter Arundell perhaps?

Colin Vandervell leads in FF at Brands in 1970. His car, the famous 'magic' Merlyn leads Harness in the JRRDS Lotus and Bob Evans' Palliser.
The magic Merlyn was used in '69 by Emerson Fittipaldi and Colin sold it to Jody Scheckter for the '71 season. One of the most famous FF's of all time.

Aurora F1

Enjoyed the pictures a lot.

I am gathering information and pictures from the Aurora F1 series and wondered if anyone had anything I could get copies of. Also happy to help anyone else with requests (not just Aurora).

Paulzinho - yes they were great times but there was a downside too. We tend to look back thru' rose tinted glasses, but some things have improved greatly as they should. When it was wet it was just as muddy as Silv was in 2000 as there were no proper tarmac footpaths. Anyone remember the old Silverstone seats in the stands? It was a 'sack cloth' type material suspended between scaffolding poles. When the person next to you stood up, you sank. When they sat down again you took off! The stand roof always leaked too. The toilets are far better now despite a few gripes still.
The racing was sometimes processional like now and the attrition rate was often terrible but there were some cracking races too particularly below F1. For me, the cars were just so much nicer to look at and you could get so close! The variety was great too. I remember an International Trophy race at Silverstone in the early 70s. The F1/F5000 race with great sounds and top drivers of the day supported by the British F3 Championship ( 75 cars - 2 heats and a final!), the RAC British Saloon car Championship, a 2 litre Group 5 sportscar race, Formula Atlantic, historics and a stand alone F5000 race - all at the same meeting!
For this reason, the golden age of racing for me personally was the mid 60s to late 70s - the period I grew up in and fell in love with the sport.

There was a great feature on the Aurora series in Motor Sport magazine a few months back. Don't have a copy to hand though. Loads of colour piccys in the article.

Mike Cannon was the constructor of the near-ubiquitous Cannon trials car, which dominated trialling in the 60s. This was from the same stable - he built a few GTs, but eventually gave up building cars and concentrated on building trailers instead. So, based on the trials heritage, perhaps not an A-series but an 1172 Ford? See Georgano p390.

Fred
Its a GP Centron on a VW chassis made by John Jobber of GP Dune Buggys. Not many made, apparently one was mid-engined and had a Porsche 356 Supper 90 motor and Autocrossed or Rallycrossed.

Good shots again Fred. yes, that is a Taydec, probably the car of Malcolm Payne.
The Astra RNR1 is shown entering the hairpin at Snett with the petrol station in the background. Roger Nathan's car before he added the two orange stripes.
The last one, not sure. Mickj reckons a Milmor. If so could be the 1100cc Mk7 GT of Allan Brunning.
If not, any chance it could be a 998cc Costin Nathan GT Imp?

hello,
quite interesting thread and pictures. I have found the fletcher gt on the programme-picture of the 500km race programme of 1967. You see the starting grid of the race one year before, look at the fletcher between Glas 1304 and Abarth 1300 OT , Sebring Sprite behind.

hello,
the car with number 102 is one of the three Diva Valkyrie, made by Don Sims in 1965/66. One or two of these cars are still existing.
Car No.52 looks really as the Astra from Roger nathan in an very early stage, later two orange stripes added at the front. Engine Cosworth FVA.

PS:
this Diva was also raced by Mockford and Jeremy Delmar-Morgan at the 1000km race at Nürburgring ther same year, may 1966, colour was dark blue as far as I remember.
The Astra was raced with much success , also at the Ring, 500km in September 1969 (would like to enter Foto as Astra enters the famous Karussell-bend, followed by Porsche 910. Remember: it had a full plywood monocoque chassis as early Marcos, nearly unchanged copied from Frank Costins "Costin Nathan" . One of these cars in Sweden and one in France, this one wrongly listed as Costin Nathan .
