Expect a major announcement coming up about a team coming back to this exciting series. Its not public knowledge yet, but give it about 20 days. Its pretty exciting!!

I have it on good authority that JB&Q has reached an exciting agreement with TMSR and Conoco to return with a team of three alternative fuel cars. The team will be known as Team B&Q Varta York City Quest Brilliance Jet Racing and will consist of a Honda Civic, a Lexus IS200 and a Brilliant Brilliance Chinese show car which will be driven by Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell and Hyla Breese... watch this space for more news...

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I'm intrigued by your post, wonder who it could be.

I'm guessing it might have a connection to someone involved in V8 Supercars in Australia or New Zealand?

And you say they've been involved before, only two direct links I can see are West Surrey Racing (NZ A1GP), but I can't see it being them as they've been involved in the BTCC for years.

The other link I can see is Prodrive, who last competed in 2000.....

Damn, I hate half-storys! Last year it was Speed Equipe / Lexus.

Prodrive was the first name that came to mind for me. David Richards should have the time to set the operation up to be going well before his rumoured return to F1 in 2008. The question is, which cars would they run? Maybe Hondas?

GA are the other possibility, as they were scrambling around trying to get a team together throughout last year.

Prodrive were supposedly getting the Honda works deal for the E/WTCC at one point. Don't know if anything ever came of that. And Honda did say they'd be returning to the BTCC, although I always take these comments from manufacturers lightly.

GA wouldn't really be that exciting would it? Unless its Gary Ayles' new team?

The phrasing of the initial post doesn't necessarily mean the team has been away. Returning to the championship could just mean coming back again after the end of the 2005 season.

But I think we're being pedantic here, and its likely that it is a team that has not been in the series in 2005, but has been in the past.

It has now been confirmed that Martyn Bell is entering the series in a BMW 320i E46 built by Schnitzer and run for Dirk Muller in the WTCC in 2005.

Ex-BTCC privateer in the 1990s, Geoff Steel, will run the car on Bell's behalf, under than name of Geoff Steel Racing.

The team expect to take delivery of the car within the month.
