Im just glad to see proper touring cars back in the BTCC. Dont get me wrong the BTCC has always been great but I really didnt like the whole hot hatch image that the series had for the last few years.

The car on show has been borrowed from Sweden!

The WRS cars will be delivered to them in Feb and they will be 'Unraced' cars!
So from that I believe they will be classed as 2007 spec!

Well spotted redshoes. I was told it is the show car they had from the earlier attempt at the Vectra a couple of years ago!

Just saw this pic of Mark Smith's Alfa on btcc.net - might be from last year, but still gets my vote for best looking car revealed so far

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Well the livery has changed - additional sponsorship from Jessops.

Sounds like WSR are getting a 2007-spec BMW, and some factory support and perhaps updates initially, but will be left to fend for themselves after the first few races. Arena presumably would get old cars though, so it'd still be an advantage to WSR. Rick Kerry is the other confirmed BMW driver; have we heard anything from Geoff Steel's team recently, at one point they planned to run 3 cars this year?

Only if the right drivers with the right money came along. Which would be the same situation for any team hoping to be on the BTCC grid!

I've done some investigating... Believe this if you will!

The car on show IS the car they showed two years ago! Then it was a 4-door saloon representing a diesel car. Since then, they have 'converted it to a 5 door hatchback' by, of all things, replacing the roof and rear quarters to be able to fit a tailgate!

The front end is still the same apart from the grille, which has been fitted with the later version!

Obviously they have left the BTC spec axles and wheels on it.

Makes sense....it's only a show car, so why bother building a new one?

I think they could have a far better looking car if Jessops shelled out some more sponsorship money - do you agree Andy ?

yes and no. If Jessops spent some more money, then that doesn't necessarily mean it will look better (think of VXR and Holiday Inn for example), but you change the Blue rectangular panel into a more integrated graphic device, probably with a white keyline (to seperate the colours). The key is how you integrate the colours, backgrounds and ofte the logos together.

For example the top half of the bonnet could be Jessops blue and then a white keyline runs down from the A-pillar, from a White visor strip, down the edge of the bonnet where it thickens up and then across and back up the other side.

Anyway, thats enough ideas

sort of like this...

In reality, the blue and white wouldnt have to extend all the way down to the grille.

If that's at Brands in March, don't forget to send the bill.

I have to agree the Jessops sponsor scheme is extremely budget looking. They definitely should integrate it better.
OTOH, who knows how much sponsorship money Jessops is contributing. Is it for just partial season, race by race basis, select races.

What? I quite like the Vauxhall scheme. Does this mean I have bad aesthetic taste?

I am curious as to why the championship winning cars keep getting sold on... Dynamics sold their 05 winner to Mike Jordan and the 06 winner to John George... does Honda have no soul, no desire to keep their BTCC championship winning cars on the motorshow circuit??

And is there a little too much orange in the field, with RAC & Halfords?

TD Integra's were not works cars, partly as the car was never officially sold here. There are rumours of TD running a Civic, and that may attract offical input I assume

Also, new rules this year mean that a BTC spec car (like the 'teg) cant win the series.

But its the championship winner...!! Honda has a heart doesnt it? They could buy it from Dynamics for a small fortune to "assist" with the development of the next year's beastie....

Depends how you view race cars, as pieces of metal.. or something living and breathing.....

I wonder how openly Honda would want to associate themselves with a championship winning car when it's a model that isn't even officially marketed in the UK....?

Not reallly much for them to gain, I wouldn't've said.

I'm glad someone mentioned Mike Jordan - does anyone know if he's 100% after the crash, and whether he'll be out there in 2007?

I forget where I read it but he was getting the car back from Dynamics this week - they had re-jigged it - and I believe he was set to test it too to get familiar again with the car. Still said he was slightly sore yet!

Honda UK know that Dynamics have promoted the brand really well, but it's a bit immoral to jump in and try to claim some success off it.

A lot of the Integra though was carried over components though from Dynamics Civic's, which in turn were bought from Arena when they were Honda funded and developed - so it's not a complete steal.

Yes - it looks as if its a graphic lifted from the Jessops website and just stuck on the car!

That said, David Pinkney's car from last year had worse sponsor-integration methinks.
