Decent debut for both cars. The AMG GT3 took pole, with an 8:02, but both Lexus' finished ahead in 10th and 11th.

Shows how much of these speed limits are a joke. They just make things more dangerous elsewhere on the track.
I'm happy for Walkenhorst, they deserve the win after trying so hard for so long and supporting VLN with entries even when "no one else" shows us. |

Great pics thanks, best of the new GT3s that I've seen so far - the Mercedes doesn't look as good as I'd hoped, but the Lexus looks much better - looking forward to seeing more of each in coming years.

I actually really like the Mercedes, would love to see one in silver with minimal sponsorship decals and black wheels, and maybe fluorescent yellow mirrors and thin outlines around the taillights.
I find the GT3 situation interesting as there seems to be 2 directions things are heading, with more traditional GT cars on one end and then the sports and super cars becoming a bit more "extreme" on the other end. On one hand you have the Bentley and the Nissan, and now the Cadillac and RC-F, and soon the M6, all relatively large when compared to the other side of the field. Not sure if it's just a timing coincidence and factories wanting to build and race their GT cars, or perhaps Bentley and Nissan showing that you can build a bigger car that is still very fast, or something they feel will benefit them from the way the cars receive their BoP (is frontal area a factor when setting base restrictor/weight values?). I suppose the Reiter Camaro also deserves a mention, although it hasn't exactly been a success. On the other side you have cars like the super aggressive looking Huracan, the new leaner, meaner looking Mercedes, the McLaren upgraded to the wider 650S, the new angrier looking R8, and so on. With all of the evolved models looking a bit "sharper" than their previous iterations and more purposeful than the larger GT cars, that side of the class seems to be growing a bit more extreme when compared to the previous guard of super and sports cars in the class. |

Considering he's the chairman of the DMSB and therefore has a significant amount of oversight into the organization of events on the Nordschleife, he has a lot of influence in this matter.

I figured he would at least be an "ambassador" or something, but chairman is much better! If that's the case we could consider this good news.

Uwe Alzen y Dominik Schwager take the win with the Ford GT in fifth VLN race today. The Lexus RCF GT3 take the second place.

Nice to see the Alzen Ford get a win.
What better driver could Jürgen get to replace himself than his own brother ? |

That's awesome!! Good to see the Ford GT take the win especially with Uwe behind the wheel and a fantastic boost for Lexus to take 2nd in their 2nd race, hopefully we see the car more in Europe. |

Great result for the Ford and Lexus. The Farnbacher RC F seems to be getting on with it better than the Emil Frey team.

Keep in mind that both the Ford and Lexus are competing in SPX. Who knows what kind of BoP, if any, they are running.
Still, though, Uwe Alzen is always a great joy to see race, he's so spectacular. It was great to see Dominik Schwager keep up that insane pace. |

1335kg, 1x55.9 restrictor for the Lexus. Thats about on par with the Bentley, except that has turbos and a different restrictor.
