They are relatively dark, I mean you do certainly need headlights and the ambience is still there but the sparse floodlights brighten most of the areas visible. However both are still pitch black when compared to the laughable night-for-day WEC COTA and full F1-conditions WEC Bahrain, which might as well be in daylight.

That's why I always thought LMS Portimao 1000km 2009/2010 and Hungaroring 1000km 2010 looked amazing in the dark, absolutely zero visibility outside start/finnish straight. Just like Nordschleife. That is how ACO should have kept it too

Leave that for those events then. Daytona is great track where you can see all the way around. Even at night you can follow a race around most of the circuit. That's what matters.

Question: Will the GTLM Michellin cars be able to run single stint tires for at least a portion of the race for the Daytona 24 (i.e. Qualifying, final hour)? I hope so. It makes them so much quicker.

You could before the lights too - maybe even better as the light pool from a car in the dark is much bigger than the car under floods and a group of cars together light each other.

Looks like Sabine is back in the Frikadelli car. Connor De Fillipi is out.

The first year they installed the musco lights at Daytona they ran them full on, but since then they turn on about 20% of the bulbs. And technically Daytona did have lights before then along the frontstretch grandstands and sporadically in the infield they had what were basically just street lights on poles.

So this is the entry list that we ended up with (probably the best GTLM field that will race in the world this year). Is it too early to make picks?

An enthusiasm for racing and the 'ring that is ineffectious. More please. But if she is slow at Daytona we can do what we do best as Sportscar fans, slag someone off, it's what we're best at. Less please. |

Lol. Perhaps I fit in.
Still a new level is there to be achieved: complaining about complaining about complaining. I'm just observing that we're a bunch of grumpy miserable people who not liking things is the default position, think not enjoying the races is a badge of honour, use any positive outburst to actually be a snide shot at something else and seem to be at home having no fun in life. Go us. I can see why people aren't getting into Motorsport. Whatever makes us happy. Or rather not. |

I thought at Petit they mentioned Michelin would not be using the "single stint special" tires they had through the 2nd half of the IMSA season last year. But that being said, I also am not sure if there is a limited number of tires allowed for the race by the rules. So no, I can't answer your question!

By the way, for the sake of throwing it back to glorious times i.e., Group C and the Old Daytona front stretch...here's the picture they posted. Granted, the Daytona 24 is the 3rd most important race held at that track each year, it is however, most refreshing to see that the public relation department within Daytona are not completely blinded by their obsesion for Nascar, and that they still show there recognizance and appreciation for the history of sports car racing and the 24. |

NOT Group C at all! GTP formula and 'old' group V which became GTX.
