Yeah I've read enough "Button to Le Mans" rumours to fill a book in the last few years. Anything JB-related goes firmly into the category of 'believe it when I see it'. But fingers crossed!

That would be cosmic, seeing Button at Le Mans, could really suit his smooth style

And it would be funny if he won it ahead of Alonso and completed 2 Triple Crown legs (despite him saying that he would never do Indy).

If he gets it, that's one quaranteed onboard camera for the nonhybrids then (besides the almost-quaranteed for Rebellion)
Anyway Fred's also "passed" the ACO simulator https://www.lemans.org/en/news/ferna...-le-mans/48697 And this is older story but Valkyrie AMR Pro might run in the AMR Festival support race http://www.dailysportscar.com/2018/0...-festival.html |

AsLMS LMP3 champion duo Guy Cosmo and Patrick Byrne are trying to get the funds to lock down one of the Jackie Chan/DC Ligiers.

Corvette also confirm their third drivers - a couple of former overall winners in Marcel Fassler and Mike Rockenfeller.
http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/c...r-24h-le-mans/ Crazy to think Rocky hasn't raced Le Mans since 2012. Only like 15 or so drives left to be filled/announced. |

JMW will run in Weathertech branding this year and have Cooper MacNeil/Jeff Segal join Liam Griffin.
https://www.weathertechracing.com/si...for-Le-Mans-24 Shame not to see the traditional JMW yellow. But that Weathertech livery looks lovely when covered in rubber and dirt. |

That'd be a real shame, he's damn fast, and the driver that gave that line-up credibility!

For those of us not at the track, unfortunately only Saturday morning entertainment as they won't broadcast race 1 anywhere at least not last year but I don't think anyone expects it to be different now.
Anyway... it's kind of a miracle that Ginetta's will have been able to attend this event 3 years in a row now, after everyone thought 2015 was going to be the nail in the coffin for the chassis! You've also gotta wonder if they'll abolish GT3 for next year and make it LMP3-only. Interestingly the PDF mentions the "Le Mans Sprint Cup" next to ASLMS even though that series is almost certainly dead already... maybe it's just a relic of last year |

It's a bit silly, but very ACO, that the races aren't just streamed live like the rest of the championship.

MLMC ELMS support races Qualifying - Live in full 2 Hour Race - Live in full MLMC Road to Le Mans (2017 model) Qualifying - No coverage 55 Minute Race 1 - No coverage (* delayed 5 minute youtube music video) 55 Minute Race 2 - Live in full If you look at the Le Mans Cup youtube channel, 2016 Road to Le Mans has got 19k views and 2017 (Race 2) Road to Le Mans 18k views - and the count probably would have been even higher if Eurosport didn't broadcast these live as well. The next most viewed video on the entire channel has 5k views and vast majority are below 1k, even though they are channel exclusive Last edited by Deleted; 26 Apr 2018 at 17:18. |

I realise this is a series run primarily for the benefit of the competitors (lots of silver and bronze rated greybeards) so why should they care if we want to watch. But LMP racing is increasingly seen as a viable career path for quick youngsters who want to drive formula cars but can't get ahead in single seaters, so why not big it up when you already have the infrastructure in place? I dunno.
Maybe they will surprise us and stream it this year. Anyway, off topic rambling. |

If the so-called 'problem' here is that they are figuring it's not worth doing because of "just a support race early on weekday", they should tweak the timetable so that Qualifying 2 for 24 Hours starts one hour earlier in the THU evening, leaving space for the first RTLM race to be run between Qualifying 2 and Qualifying 3... you know instead of having it before Qualifying 2. Then they could perhaps even lure in Eurosport to broadcast it when all of them are "jammed in together" or so to speak, if that's also part of the 'problem' (?). I reckon that's the key here in why ES chose to broadcast the Porsches last year too But yes this is bit off, agree Last edited by Deleted; 26 Apr 2018 at 22:08. |
