Yeah I've read enough "Button to Le Mans" rumours to fill a book in the last few years. Anything JB-related goes firmly into the category of 'believe it when I see it'. But fingers crossed!

Anyway... it's kind of a miracle that Ginetta's will have been able to attend this event 3 years in a row now, after everyone thought 2015 was going to be the nail in the coffin for the chassis!

You've also gotta wonder if they'll abolish GT3 for next year and make it LMP3-only.

Interestingly the PDF mentions the "Le Mans Sprint Cup" next to ASLMS even though that series is almost certainly dead already... maybe it's just a relic of last year

If you look at the Le Mans Cup youtube channel, 2016 Road to Le Mans has got 19k views and 2017 (Race 2) Road to Le Mans 18k views - and the count probably would have been even higher if Eurosport didn't broadcast these live as well. The next most viewed video on the entire channel has 5k views and vast majority are below 1k, even though they are channel exclusive

I realise this is a series run primarily for the benefit of the competitors (lots of silver and bronze rated greybeards) so why should they care if we want to watch. But LMP racing is increasingly seen as a viable career path for quick youngsters who want to drive formula cars but can't get ahead in single seaters, so why not big it up when you already have the infrastructure in place? I dunno.
Maybe they will surprise us and stream it this year.
Anyway, off topic rambling.

I guess anything's possible, I didn't expect Eurosport to broadcast Carrera Cup last year either between warm-up and RTLM, but they did (first time ever for the 'spec series support race'?)

If the so-called 'problem' here is that they are figuring it's not worth doing because of "just a support race early on weekday", they should tweak the timetable so that Qualifying 2 for 24 Hours starts one hour earlier in the THU evening, leaving space for the first RTLM race to be run between Qualifying 2 and Qualifying 3... you know instead of having it before Qualifying 2. Then they could perhaps even lure in Eurosport to broadcast it when all of them are "jammed in together" or so to speak, if that's also part of the 'problem' (?). I reckon that's the key here in why ES chose to broadcast the Porsches last year too
