I'm surprised the FIA/WEC would actually be smartly accommodating and grant an extension. It seems reasonable of them, far from their usual decisions. I think there is a better chance in Am but stranger things have happened.

Perhaps they'd even run a chassis of their own this time round... |

I'd say something developed along the lines of a Renault/Alpine hypercar, or maybe a DPI-esque development of the Oreca/Rebellion R13.

"The FIA released an updated Balance of Performance table on Monday afternoon, confirming a 1-liter fuel capacity increase for all GTE-Pro and GTE-Am cars.
***It’s believed the change could be related to the new-for-2019 rule that abolishes the 14-lap mandatory stint length for GTE-Pro cars, which will re-open strategy and fuel-saving measures for teams." https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/...ay-notebook-5/ |

Fehan has not ruled out additional WEC outings for Corvette Racing after contesting the Shanghai and Sebring events this season with a single Corvette C7.R. Sportscar365 understands that two-race program was part of a prerequisite from the ACO to guarantee two entries for Le Mans.
Lol Meanwhile Risi has done grand total of 4 one-off North American regional series appearances in the last 18 month period Last edited by Deleted; 10 Jun 2019 at 21:08. |

The new rules point nowhere. Really disappointing to see where is all going.

Could it have been BOP related? No Corvettes run full time in the WEC, while AF Corse run Ferraris in GTE Pro full season. |

Not anymore. In IMSA you don't get auto invites for winning certain races or championships. They just give two "at large" invites to a prototype and a GT team.
You'd think that Corvette having two cars though would be a no brainer on the part of the ACO due to loyalty and performance in IMSA, not to mention the expanding field. Especially as they've given Ford four entries between their IMSA and WEC teams, and Risi has only run a handful of races over the past couple of years. |

Per DSC, Goodyear to essentially re-brand Dunlop's tires in the WEC following Le Mans. Remember, Goodyear and Sumitomo jointly own Dunlop Tyres.

Yes it doesn't really mean anything but perhaps they'd give company to Michelin in LMP1 again

If the new Michelin for P1-L is not allowed to be used, teams could use Dunlop-Goodyear next season. I really don´t know why Michelin or ACO didn't allow teams to use the new front tyre they have been testing. |

It was put to the teams, and one team--likely Dragonspeed, who won't even be in LMP1 next season--vetoed it.
Just like F1, the FIA have brought in too much democracy. The ACO, FIA, and even Toyota voted in favor of the privateer spec tires. |

Why could Dragonspeed veto the tyres at all? Isn't every team free to use the tyres they want? |

Because there is a rule regarding tires and it's not a free run what you want class, believe it's like LMP2 and the tire is nominated preseason. The rules apparently state a change must be approved by competitors and one team, most reported Dragonspeed right away, vetoed the measure. Why write that rule at all is a bigger question but believe it had to do with the promises of keeping costs in line for the privateer cars. Isn't there also a restriction on the bodywork changes, testing and many other areas? If you start down the slope of listening to the teams in an attempt to shave costs, one team is going to show-string the budget and want no part in anything beyond their outlay at the start. Extra testing to understand a new tire would be an extra cost they weren't willing to take on. Right or wrong they were offered the option and took what they felt was the best option for them to remain semi-competitive. Probably why they, Dragonspeed, also do not have the upgraded Gibson and now are stepping back to just Indy. You know the costs of Indy going in, for the most part at least.

So nice to see Goodyear back in top level motorsport. They have done so much for motorsport. Who else had the 350 wins poster?

Oh. It was SMP/ART Grand Prix that vetoed the new front tyre.

Their reasoning is understandable, but hopefully the new tires can be tested and used after Le Mans.
