Colourscan debuted LMS001 at Hidden Valley in 98, this car was used at Bathurst that year as evidenced by blue rollcage. I believe this was the car destroyed in Adelaide in 99 with TLR1 being returned to service at the next round. Brett Peters & Danny Osborne drove it at the Ipswich 500 before it was entered as a 2nd Colourscan entry with Ozemail sponsorship for Scott Fleming & Mark Williams.

Ozemail signage on that car. It was run by Colourscan at Bathurst that year but I'm not sure it was a Colourscan car. It went to Queensland and last I saw it it was living at the lost opportunity Darlington Raceway, maybe the only V8 Supercar to lap in anger at that track.

Was definately a Colourscan car, leased from and run under the second entry of, I put a question mark in there as I am not sure which car, but I do believe it was an ex Longhurst car.

Was sold to a lawyer in Canberra I think (testing memory).

Just to clarify my post #3277, the Peters / Osborne Ipswich and Fleming / Williams Bathurst car was I believe TLR1, it had a white rollcage and looked to be in a fairly conventional.

Hard to work out the motivation for the Colourscan team to buy LMS001, can’t see moving from a well sorted conventional ex Longhurst car to the ex Larkham car which was anything but and had sat unloved in a corner at SBR for 18 months was a move forward but this is what happened.

$650,000 in 1990? Really? That's a fair whack in 2010 dollars, let alone 20 years ago.

Been looking at the Results for Bathurst 1980

There are a few cars that I was curious about:

Phil Lyon/Bill Stanley(#23)VB Commodore
Jim Keogh/Ross Mathiesen(#22)Ford XD Falcon
Dick Barbour/Sam Posey(#12)Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Neville Bridges/Sue Ransom(#19)VB Commodore
Ron Dickson/Bob Stevens(#2)Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Wayne Negus/Trevor Hine(#14)VC Commodore
Garry Rogers/Fred Geissler(#16)VC Commodore
Paul Gulson/Ian Geoghegan(#21)VB Commodore
Peter Janson/Larry Perkins(#4)VC Commodore
Alan Browne/Brian Sampson(#15)VC Commodore
Ron Wanless/Greg Wright(#26)VC Commodore

I know that it is a bit of a long list, but I was wondering where these cars came from, what happened to them and where are they now?

Any ideas?

I don't know where it came from, but it continued to race in Group C until the end of 1984 and was converted to a VH along the way. John & Kevin Heffernan bought the car in 1985 and raced it regularly in the Qld Sports Sedan Championship for years. Fortunately, they never modified the car and it is still very much as it finished Bathurst in 1984. Recently, they have run the car in a couple of historic Group C races.

Lyon Commodore is with Garry Collins (itp)
Keogh Falcon is with John Mina
The Camaro's are in Sydney, both owned by the same person
The Bridges Commodore is a road car in Newcastle
Willy has (had?) the Negus Commodore
Geissler Commodore was in NZ and is coming back to (is back in?) Australia
ReCar Commodores, one went to Skippy Parsons and is now restored back to ReCar VC, to debut at PI I believe. The other went to Barry Lawrence and Willy now has it, though incorrectly presented as a VH ReCar.

Don't know about the Janson VC.

some info on the two Camaros from Bathurst 1980 (courtesy of AMC #23)
i will mention what cars were used, just to help you out.

1979
Bathurst
"Car One" #2 (Ron Dickson / Dick Barbour) -> DNF lap 16 (engine failure)

After bathurst, Bob stevens took over preparation and rebuilt the car.

1980
Bathurst
"Car One" #2 (Ron Dickson / Bob Stevens) -> 11th (25 laps behind winner)
"Car Two" #12 (Dick Barbour / Sam Posey) -> DNF lap 91 (front wheel bearing)

1981
Bathurst
"Car One" #21 (Ron Dickson / Bob Stevens) -> 17th (12 laps off leader)
"Car Two" #31 (Graham Moore / Steve Dymand) -> 26th (24 laps off leader)

1982
Alan Jones raced "Car Two" at the AMSCAR Round @ Amaroo
Graham Moore took over for Oran Park
Bathurst
"Car One" #6 (Ron Dickson / Bob Stevens) -> 10th (13 laps off leader)
"Car Two" #12 (Geoff Leeds / Peter FitzGerald) -> 22nd (29 laps off leader)

1983
"Car Two" was sold to Mike Burgmann, with Bob Stevens preparing the car. Unfortunately, the front stub axle broke and sent th ecar into the wall at the ATCC round at Oran Park (took a chunk out of the concrete wall) this car was written off and was stripped of all good parts and buried in the old tip @ Amaroo Park, Burgmann then bought "Car One" with Stevens still preparing it (with plenty of spares in the workshop)
Bathurst
"Car One" #33 (Mike Burgmann / Tony Longhurst) -> not classified (121 Laps)

1984
"Car One" was sold to Bryan Thomson
Bathurst
"Car One" #22 (Bryan Thomson / John Mann) -> DNF 121 laps (Differential)

as for the owner...no clue here, so hope this helps for now.

Car delivered to Opel Motorsport in South Africa to compete in 1996 SATCC. Driven by Mike Briggs (1995 SATCC champion) finished 5th in ’96 championship with 1 win, 1 pole and 9 podiums.

Vectra delivered to Greenfields Mowers Racing to race in 1997 Australian Supertouring Car Championship (ASTCC). Car driven by Cameron Mclean and finished 6th.

Campaigned in 1998 – 2001 in ASTCC by John Henderson with best result of 2nd in championship in 2001.

Car has done little racing (club only) since 2001.

• Swindon C20XE 290 HP 2 Litre engine – fresh, less than 2 hrs since rebuild
• X-Trac 206 6speed sequential, recently dissembled and inspected, AP triple plate clutch
• Brembo 8 spot front, AP 2 spots rear
• AP air jacks
• MoTec M4 all options unlocked, CAN connectors
• Pi dash
• Original CAMS logbook

This is an excellent example of ‘90’s BTCC spec car with a completely known history, two engines and a comprehensive spares package. Over $15,000 recently spend on mechanicals and electrics. This car will only continue to appreciate in value and are becoming very collectible, especially in Europe.

Just a question for the Comaro minded people out there -

Was there any particular reason why the Pepsi/other comaro's were never quite up to the speed of the Channel 9 machine?

It always puzzled me - was it prep, drivers, or diffferent specs?

Any more info guys relating to what happened to these camaro's after the racing days?
And I remember hearing that the Channell 9 Camaro was raced by another driver in 1984. Was it still owned by Bartlett? Doesn 't Bowden own that one now?

The Bartlett Channel 9 Camaro was driven in the 84 race as #34 with John Tesoreiro & Bob Tindal as pilots...unfortunately, it was caught up in the start line chaos caused by Tom Walkinshaw.
