Viv, it's probably shortened and squeezed in due to C4's live coverage of the Paralympics from Paris, which probably takes precedence over F1.

I suppose you're right Mike, I'm just surprised how short the race programme is. I always watch a recording of the coverage, generally early the following morning, fast-forward straight to the race start and through the advert breaks , switching off when the race finishes. That usually takes around an hour then there's the podium and the post race interviews, I just wonder how much of the race we will actually see! |

Isn’t Monza one of the shortest lights to flag races time wise, due to the high average speed. That could also explain the relatively short highlights package too.

And then drops a clanged that he has an offer from Alpine to buy shares in the race team, thinks nothing of it, that’s not newsworthy.
It’s also annoying that the rest of the team kinda shuts up when Mr Rosberg shares his often harsh views… and it overpowers the broadcast |

Viv, I've just noticed that C4 also has programmes on at 23.30 both today and tomorrow. I don't know whether they will be repeats or whether they will be in addition to the earlier programmes.

Mike, my TV Guide in Spain has it listed as a repeat of the earlier broadcast, namely qualifying highlights with an [R] Showing at 00:30 my (Spanish) time.

That C4 highlights show has to be the shortest in history, surely?

Yesterday's race, with no interruptions for SC's etc was under 1hr 14 mins from lights to flag. (ie Hungary nearly 1 hr 40 mins) That and the Paralympics coverage combined I suspect is the reason. |

Perhaps Danny Ric could replace the shouty ones on Sky? He has a fairly good knowledge of F1 and the circuits.

I think Sky needs one or two more serious pundits. Certainly doesn't need any more egos or jokers on there! |

They don't need presenters that think people are watching to see them. Removing Kravitz would be an excellent start in that process.

Do we need commentary? It would be great if we could put them on mute and just hear the cars. All the info comes up on screen and do we need someone to tell us what we can see for ourselves.

The problem then is that the commentators would then be redundant because all they can see is the same pictures that the viewers can see, so that is all they can really speak about; any other comments can only be their interpretations of what the timing screens show. What would be better is if the commentators had multiple screens showing all the camera streams so that they could tell viewers what was happening at other parts of the track, but somehow I don't believe that will happen. |

Good comentary and analysis adds to the pictures, however that needs people who know when to speak and when to let the pictures tell the story.
It also needs presenters/reporters that are knowledgeable, have credibility and are respected within the working enviroment. An "Alan Partridge" type character has none of the above! |

There are multiple issues here. Any of us that grew watching and listening to commentators like David COleman, Barry Davies, even Murray, or other less well known guys like Arthur Debenham in rallycross, Chris Carter in bike racing and the like. The amount of times Muytrray would be aware he was getting over excited and take a rain-check or be told to, you would get that low pitched Murray reset voice, he knew where theline was as did his directors.
They informed with useful info they spoke to teams, mechanics, drivers. Croft just utters bile relentlessly to make sure he is always talking, they are utterly meaningless, pointless stats that are instantly forgettable. And there is clearly a directive from many firms like TNT, Dioscovery, Sky to make everything, amazing, the best ever, utterly pointless over emphasising something that is just normal, or run of the mill. The shouting is awful, some guys can almost get away with it, but just listen to an F1 race, on any channel,. they literally are shouting it is borderline insulting and offensive at times. I do however think it is company led, respected comms guys like Addison, I have heard him doing it in some series and not others and I feel it is being forced on some commentators for effect. Some do it well, some really struggle and it sounds fake and forced. There is no need for it, I don't know why these moronic tv people think there is. This is not UFC or boxing, it is not a sudden impact sport it is usually a fairly slow burn for an hour and a half with tiny periods of very brief excitement. I have even heard this new sort of fake aggression creeping in, like football pundits do, hard to explain but some racing guys do it, the BSB guy does it all the time, it sounds so bloody fake and silly. |

There’s been many great commentators in the past like Murray and plenty of others. However Crofty seems to have lost it. Shame really, I used to respect him. I do agree Addison is top notch. I miss Ben Edwards too. The problem is, a lot of motorsport isn’t mainstream anymore

What irritated me more than the volume of the comentator, is the supposed need to have an "Alan Partridge"/village idiot menber of the presentation team.
I find the sky coverage a lot better without Kravitz, the same as thier cricket coverage was much betetr without David Lloyd, NBC in the USA manage to cover IMSa and INDYCAR with intelligent and informed pit lane reporters, |

I’m not sure that’s strictly true. I think Kravitz is one of the better members of the team. The US coverage is top notch, I agree |

I think Sky have wasted their potential and should just give up their coverage of F1
