I don't frankly think it's the ACO controlling this, but FIA... since it has been the number 1 circuit safety policy of the FIA in the last decade in FIA Grade 1 and (most) Grade 2s. And with FIA now in more active role in sportscars too

Through the past years I have made lots of photos from cars in the ford chicanes, many of them showed the cars almost 100% on the inside of the last turn in, next to the track. Not exactly respecting track limits, so hopefully that will stop with those new kerbstones.

Might see a few more hairy moments when the drivers begin to try and push the limits of those curbs come next week.

Also thankfully drivers aren't whining about the updated chicane. |

Cars have been doing that for quite a few years. Okay not quite to the extent of the Porsche. But certainly saw a couple of cars do similar to the Ferrari last year.

That's drivers running out of talent or being too gready for lap time, not the fault of the circuit.

Don't worry, in 10 years time we will be lucky if there will one spoonful of gravel & grass left @ Sarthe

Bold suggestion: just get rid off the chicane completely - or (less bold): bring it back to just one left-right kink instead of the double one.
All we have to do is kick the FIA out... |

It's actually an awesome chicane in terms of the speed they take through it. It's a challenge right now it's not just a stop-go bus stop like we see at a lot of tracks. Really hope they don't mess around with it too much. |

Funny how everything is just now FIA's fault, altough it has been the safety organization for 100 years and ACO has its own resume of abominations.

Back when I was deciding which grandstand to get tickets for it was between Dunlop and the one at the Ford Chicane. I picked Dunlop because my wife will be there for the first time and I wanted her to be closer to the concert stage and vendor area incase she got bored. Now after seeing these action shots of airborne cars at the Ford Chicane I think I made the wrong decision!

I will definitely watch a part of practice at that chicane, action guaranteed!

The Ford chicanes were created 42 years ago ! If you want any change, ask J.P. Beltoise and the other pilots who imagined the "nouvelle portion", not the FIA.

I actually like the Ford Chicanes, which is weird, they are designed well enough that the drivers can really attack them rather than having to slow to a crawl and if you get them right they can have a real effect on your lap and the next one.
