This is getting ridiculous. Now with the prize pool and more entrants, the Alfa's will be lucky to lead a lap let alone win a race! And I thought we were in for a shot there for a while..

What entrants?
Only one bloke is confirmed as running. Everyone else just has cars, or loan of cars... No other drivers at all. |

Roland Dane mentioned they're announcing a new program next week.
I thought AGT, but TCR perhaps? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

It has been suggested that Holden has given them a nudge...

In the scheme of things not expensive to do and with TV coverage a manufacturer that leverages it could do nicely, as I have been saying.

Holden to enter with Triple Eight.
Amateurs and Semi Professional teams looking to enter would be wrapped to hear that.... Molly Taylor perhaps? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

My understanding is that someone is still trying to stitch a deal together to acquire an Impreza for Ms Taylor.

Kissing motorsport who built and supplied the Astras have shut up shop. Another team has taken over parts supply. I saw a photo of about a dozen Astras sitting at the Kissing factory looking for new homes.

Given Roland's level of perfection. I can't see him purchasing race cars built by someone else and being happy with them.

Lubner Motorsport took over the Astra TCR program from this year on. They'll provide the parts and tech support.
It's an easy gig for Triple Eight to take on. Just regular maintenance and upkeep. No R&D required. The car is proven. Won TCR Germany last year. Top rookie was in an Astra from the same stable as well. Get someone to pay for it, grab some decent drivers, and slap some Holden badges on it. |

Well it is common practice for any race team purchasing a car to completely strip and rebuild it, so I'm sure they'll ensure it's to their standards.

Because she's a contracted Subaru driver.
The car's not terrible. More often than not, it's been a victim of circumstance. 11th-hour shoe-string deals, inept drivers, crashes... The constructors have been steadily developing the performance and reliabilty of the car over the past 12 months. One of the original development drivers raced it strongly at a round of TCR Italy last season, showing it's true potential. With a good, well-funded team and a solid driver, the car would be competitive. |

Different type of deal. Provide a crew for a one off event, to running a full program.
Didn't say he wouldn't do it. Be interesting to see if the TCR builder is at 888's attention to detail level. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk |

The fit and finish of the Opels seems pretty good. Kissling had over 40 years experience building race cars for various Opel programs, before they shut up shop at the end of last year. You couldn't do a whole lot to them anyway, since they need to race as per homologation.
It would make absolute sense for Triple Eight to grab hold of something that isn't already going to be raced here. Wall Racing, HMO and MPC already have the majority of the brands tied up. Too many fingers in the pie between the constructor and Triple Eight, wouldn't suit their typical business motives. They'd be getting distribution rights for something from the get-go. |

Although the major TCR brands in Europe still seem to sell customer TCR cars to privateers, which could make their way down here and bugger up any concept of exclusivity...

Of course.
No difference to someone buying a VAG brand, and bypassing MPC's parts hotline and going directly to a dealership for significantly cheaper parts... |

If the chatter around Triple Eight getting involved is correct, I guess it's not going to be with a GM product.
