I keep hoping that a clip of these "incidents" will pop up on the web.

Anyway, I've done my usual trick of watching highlights of the race a week later so I've got some questions. I would be grateful if people could shed some light on things which were not immediately clear in the 1hr 50mins highlights show. Thanks. (a) What was the nature of the problems suffered by the Barazi and Arena Zyteks? (b) What happened to the RML car? I barely saw it in the program. (c) What happened to the single LMP1 Courage. I saw a brief shot if it being towed. (d) Where were the LNT Panozs. The driver pairing in one of cars looks pretty hot on paper. Is it a case of the F430 and 997 moving the performance bar too high in the class? On a more general level, what is going on with the LMP1 Chamberlain Lola? They seem to be nowhere in terms of pace. The team and drivers did a pretty respectable when they run in LMP2 last year (didn't they win the class?). Is the step to the top class proving too much? Also, how on earth did the ASM car manage to take the class win, from what I could see they had a somewhat costly spin towards the end of the race. I know the car is fast but... PS: Is it me or does the Speedy Racing Spyker look absolutely lovely in that colour scheme? |

Arena Zytek-Engine problem Quote:
RML had a lot of minor problems; for example a snapped alternator belt I think was the first problem, and later I think the rear diffuser was damage. Quote:

Just to be a bit more specific than Mirage M6, the Arena Zytek had a series of throttle cables breaking rather than having a problem with the engine itself.

Thanks to everyone who has answered my questions. Appreciated. Well, I've just digested the classification table (as you do when you've got nothing better to do on a wet Sunday afternoon) and it appears I've got some more questions so here goes:
a) I noticed relatively few of the GT2 runners are on Michelins, the majority are running Dunlops and Pirellis. Why is this? Is it a case of the performance being closely matched between the suppliers in this class hence its not so crucial whose tyres you use or am I talking cobblers? b) What happened to the Racing for Holland Dome? It looks like it retired about half way through. c) I fancied the Mowlem/Rosa/Drudi GPC F430 to win the class but it seems they had a bit of a nightmare. Again, what happened? d) The final 'what happened' concerns the Kimber-Smith/Watts Panoz Esperante. Neither LNT car saw the finish. Not strictly a question but is it me or is the LMP2 Radical's reliability a bit of an issue? I for one was glad to the see the Bruichladdich car finish but the Embassy lot must be tearing their hair out, they don't seem to get much mileage out of the thing before it packs up on race day! I really must watch the races live. There was far too much on last weekend. |

Although it had the Chamberlain banner, the #39 yellow LMP2 Lola in 2006 was effectively Amaral's ASM team. The "real" Chamberlain team did LMP1 with their yellow #19 Lola and their pace was as this year.

Anyone know what kind of relation had ASM and Chamberlain? |
